Finally got em. Road Blaster is mint condition. Thunder Storm has busted edges but otherwise looks great. Once I get a VHD player I'll rip em and put em on YouTube so you can see side-by-side comparisons with their arcade counterparts. Also I'll rip the audio tape - god only knows what's on that!

I didn't know it was released on the Sharp X1 as well. The cover is almost the same as the one used for the MSX version:

Had to look on the internet for this. Never heard of VHD's and was surprised to find out the tecnology is from the late 70's.

Almost the same thing as a CED (Capacitance Electronic Disc), which was a fairly widely used format in the early 80s in the US. VHDs were Japan-only, and players are tough to come by.

Wow impressive, the games look really mint for their age. Probably the tape holds the game logic on it? I guess the VHD disc might only hold audio/video. But then again that's only a guess.

The MSX version comes with a tape too, didn't think any MSX systems ran off tapes.

Oh yes they do, my first ever MSX game was on tape, quite a lot of games were released on that format. Activision and PSS were quite active in the early 80s. Later on, carts were the de facto format.

Then I guess it ain't an audio tape. Only today would I need to go through my friends list to find someone with a walkman to test it.

Wow, an amazing find. I guess the video will be 100% the same as most other versions out there but with primitive graphical overlays. I still think the Mega CD version of Road Blasters is the best one. If only there was a way to have the Mega CD improvements running with crisp clean video. :( Wolf Team did a great job with thta release and Time Gal too. Every other port has just been a direct arcade port excluding the graphical overlays.

Don't use headphones ;) It's very unpleasant to listen what's on those tapes!

PPl used Audio tapes to record their pirated games on, but you could buy cassettes aswell that where more specialized for data. like the commadore64, reading tapes all day :D I still have some tapes and original MSX tapes, but VHD looks cool :D sad that drives are hard to come by, never seen it in person. thx for posting :D
