Beavis and butthead won't save it. MTV just needs to play better music than just shitty hip-hop 24/7.

I've always hated MTV, never watched it but for Beavis & Butt-Head. Their program consists of stupid crap music (wacka wacka he he wacka wacka humbaha) and stupid crap girly moderators. There are MTV-rips on Youtube from the late 90's, they played Nine Inch Nails back then. You can't imagine that on nowadays' MTV anymore, unfortunately I never witnessed that glory era of 1990 when the MTV generation was formed.

I was unsure of this until I saw that Mike Judge was doing the new shows.

Good, then there's hope. If MTV had just hired some new doofus to make some more Beavis and Butthead it would've been awful. But as long as Mike Judge is still involved, it should be worth watching.

I don't think that would have been possible. Mike Judge did both guys' voices, wrote the script and produced the show.

B&B w/out Judge would be like eating a salad at Burger King.

That's the point they don't get. If you think MTV US is bad, you haven't seen MTV Brazil.

There's programs from stand up comedy, discussion about relationships, reality shows about relationships, reality shows about nightlife, football talk, fashion and health talk, internet things, cartoons based on the vjs and other lame stuff. I doubt they have 1 hour of music daily!

Believe it or not, it actually makes VH1 amazing, just because VH1 at least does air music videos and shows.

Wow...who cares? We might see one recycled cartoon among 700 billion reality shows featuring douchebags! Seriously, if there was ever a time when MTV was good, or a time when they actually played more music videos than dumb shows, I sure as hell don't remember it.

I hardly remember playing music on mtv. they did on like Saturday mornings in the 1990s. Late at night they'd play music too. And afternoons they had TRL where you'd call and vote on current music videos. Of course, things like Nsync took top place. And they never showed the whole video. When MTV2 came out, it was cool because MTV2 was music videos, and MTV was for their non music shows...i guess they ran out of space for non music shows and shoehorned them into MTV2.

I remember MTV Europe when it first started. Back then it was actually very good. Music videos pretty much all day and not just chart toppers if the time but also classics from the 80's and even late 70's. They also played French and German groups. The last time I watch MTV was on a trip back to the UK 6 years ago. What a load of crap is was. F@ing hip hop rap shite and nothing else god, I hate that crap. There once was a time when black music was good. These days all it seems to be is rap crap or some bitch type scank whailing

Yeah, I do remember the good old days when MTV only played music videos. JJ Jackson, Martha Quinn, Mark Goodman, etc. I think it was in the early 90s that they started doing those crappy reality shows.

Beavis an Butthead kind of lost their edge as they became popular enough to spawn a movie. The show kind of became part of the culture they were originally mocking. One of the best things about the early shows were the terrifically bad 80's and early 90's music videos they would make fun of. Sort of like MST3K with music videos instead of b-movies.

What was really annoying was once they took the show off the air they eventually sold episodes on tapes with all the music videos cut out. It wasn't until many years later when they started rerunning the show on MTV2 that you could watch the music video segments again. They also censored and banned some of the older episodes, so unless you wanted to find bootleg copies you were kind of out of luck as far as finding the complete shows.

MTV use to have some decent animation shows like Liquid Television (which is where alot of shows like Beavis and Butthead, Aeon Flux, and The Head got their start). Later Cartoon Suishi branched out into it's own along with MTV's The Oddities featuring The Head and The Maxx.

Granted the jokes aren't quite as funny now that I'm not 13 but I still find a certain nostalgic appeal to them.

You can trace the end of MTV to the beginning of The Real World.

Hmm i found B&B to be about as appealing as a severe case of the crabs. I remember not having satalite tv at the time and borrowing a VHS cassette of the show from a buddy, i remember thinking that if this was the future of TV then the world was gonna be a dumb flatulence infested place in a few years.

Thank god the flatulence is at least under control!

Thank you! For the life of me, I couldn't remember the name of the show. Yes, I agree this was when MTV turned for the worse.

All I can say is that I ADORE the song "Lesbian Seagull", part of the movie soundtrack.

I came here to say this.

And as a side comment, MTV Latin America has a fucking horrible gaming program.

    It is a godawful abomination.

But hey, at least there's South Park.
