I recently got one in a trade and having never played or owned a PSP-3000 was wondering what the good games were. I do have a hacked psp go, but the screen is so small it makes my eyes strain.
Here are titles that I am enjoying. Katamari , a miniaturized complete version of the PS2 titles. Extremely well done. Tekken dark resurrection, a 3-D fighter which is a blast. Top notch design. Wipeout pulse Ridge Racer 4 Final Fantasy 7 Crisis core Persona 3 Portable. Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker God of War chains of olympus Resistance Retribution blazblue calamity trigger Grand theft auto chinatown wars Castlevania the dracula x chronicles loco roco Ace combat x2 joint assault final fantasy dissidia
Out of my collection, my favorites are Lumines (my favorite puzzle game! I play this all the time. Fast, fun, and addicting) Wipeout Pure/Pulse Crisis Core (FF) Colin McRae 2005 Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? (this one can be super tough... button masher, but entertaining!) Phantasy Star Portable 1/2 Half-Minute Hero the SOCOM games are well done for the platform (if you're into that sort of thing) Killzone: Liberation is interesting (isometric/top-down shooter) GTA games are good Daxter - Haven't played much but it seems worthy Mega Man remakes (Maverick Hunter X and Powered Up) Resistance: Retribution - controls are difficult (at least on my 1000 with a mediocre thumbstick) but good Loco Roco 1/2 (You probably only need one of them) Patapon (rhythm based "platformer"?) - there's at least 2 maybe 3 of these? Manhunt 2 (nuts.) Coded Arms (fun FPS, works well on the PSP) Don't forget the homebrew fun (emu, great port of Cave Story...) Then there's stuff I haven't played but hear is good: MGS Peace Walker Motorstorm Jeanne d'Arc Castlevania (at least one of these?) FF Tactics? Tactics Ogre? All the FF remakes for that matter? (I think II and III?) God of War if you like that
It has the best versions of Lunar and Final Fantasy I II and IV (including after years) and the only affordable English version of Tales of Eternia (Euro import) There is no region lockout so you can play the RPGs that only reached Europe and the import friendly JP games. Shoot-em ups are also available in Japanese including Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire though I have heard about issues with that one it is much more affordable than the alternative version.
Kingdom hearts birth by sleep Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger Vs. Darkdeath Evilman Platypus (REALLY Fun and cool shooter.) And of course Dissida Final Fantasy
Manhunt 2 Silent Hill Origins Silent Hill Shattered Memories Ikki Tousen - Xross Impact Bounty Hounds Coded Arms Mega Man - Maverick Hunter X 50 Cent - Bulletproof - G Unit Edition Mai-Hime Senretsu! Shin Fuuka Gakuen Gekitoushi!! Mai-Hime Bakuretsu! Fuuka Gakuen Gekitoushi!
Anyone here played The 3rd Birthday? ("Parasite Eve 3") Looks like it could either be a lot of fun, or really frustrating.
I have it. The graphics are very impressive but the gameplay can feel one-dimensional. It operates like an action dungeon crawler/3rd person sci-fi shooter set with guns and contemporary design settings with some interesting game play mechanics. What makes it one dimensional is the grinding which can become redundant. The gameplay unfolds patiently and ultimately it's good to finish. The story line is scaled down which may add to the edge of meaninglessness which comes with the grind. It's a fairly tight package but the difficulty fluctuates from migraine hard to yawn in the mirror easy which keeps it from being fluid. What makes up for this is character customizations with guns and DNA which you use to level up. In total, I enjoyed it, but played in small bursts.
Crisis Core. I also think Pursuit Force is a good game but it never got much press and kinda went un-noticed. I got completely addicted to Metal Gear Ac!d as well.
The Star Ocean 1 and 2 remakes are pretty solid, too. Especially the Star Ocean 1 version. While 2 is a better game overall, the improvements over 1 compared to the original SNES version are amazing.
