I finally bagged one of these after years of wanting one. Any tips on what games I should get first? My pile of 3$ Gamestop NDS games only managed to depress me.

New Super Mario Bros., WarioWare: Touched, Sonic Rush, Castevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Nanostray 1 & 2, and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass are a few good ones. I've also heard good things about Metroid Prime: Hunters, though I've only played the demo so I can't say much about it.

I'd add Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Mega Man Zero Collection, Planet Puzzle League and maaaybe one of the Etrian Odyssey titles (I love EO1 but they're quite hard, etc.), but YMMV.

    All the Ace Attorney games
Ghost Trick <-- I love this game.
    Yoshi's Island
WarioWare: Touched <-- D.I.Y. is also good, but I prefer Touched
Chrono Trigger <-- This port is very good. I recomend it even if you have played the other versions before
Theme Park <-- This port is ok. Not the best version, but still good and having a portable version is nice.
    Super Princess Peach

Also as said above NSMB and SM64 are good. I have a 3DS but I find myself still playing my original "fat" DS more.

Well if you like Castlevania SotN, no doubt you'll really appreciate Dawn Of Sorrow, Portrait Of Ruin & Order Of Ecclesia (2D scrolling games).
Contra 4, Metal Slug 7, Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins are also a lot of fun !

*EDIT* Oups ! Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins is for the PSP (!)...

I'd say....Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is the only DS installment worth picking up of the lot.
Etrian Odyssey: all 3 are good but EO2 is the best of them.
The Mario & Luigi RPGs are fun if you're into that.
999 is another good one if you don't mind visual novels.

And there's all the obvious franchise stuff like Mario, Zelda, Pokemon etc which you probably already know if you want or not.

In the interest of not starting a new thread just for this, can someone point me towards the best (and cheapest) NDS flashcart?

    Rooms is pretty good

but one of my alltime faves in general would have to most definitely be Bangai-O

as for Flashcarts my R4 was pretty cheap and not too bad, although it wouldn't play all games. I'd say check google for the most compatible then find the cheapest copy of it you can because not all carts play all games.

Supercard DSTWO, works great with original ds and being constantly updated for 3ds compatability.
