I have purchased an MV1FZS for consolizing, while I await its arrival I have some questions.

I couldn't find much documentation on the particular model, apparently the "S" stands for Spanish, I find this strange as its in Canada and we usually only have English and French variations of stuff.
Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in.

I was planning on building this all from scratch, and have read several guides on how to.
Just looking for some recommendations on the best guides and maybe some personal tips from experienced consolizers. Maybe someone here has used this specific motherboard for theirs.

I plan on purchasing a multicart for now, not sure if I will pursue a collection of MVS carts or just some of my favourites.
It seems the 161 in 1 is the most popular and cheapest route, it also contains all of my favourite arcade releases.

I look forward to everyone's input and examples, and of course building this console.

Yes I have found that site, and a few others. Thank you. I have just not found very much info specific to this board, however I emailed Jamma-Nation-X about a broken link and while doing so asked if there is any differences when modding this particular board.

    Yepp I'm sure.

Xian Xi should be the one you seek in consolizing. He's very knowledgeable, even helped me finish some of my projects. I've done an MV-1F and MV-2.

First off, get your UniBIOS from Razoola and a Neobitz from Jkurtz.

Most of the parts (switches, jacks, adapters) I got from Mouser.com, but most electronic stores will have them. When you order the Neobitz, you do get the RCA and S-Video jacks, so you may not need those.

Power wise, going based off of what HardMVS.com's link said about the PCB, you may have to look for a +5V 7A adapter.

You don't have to do the battery mod, but seeing that most batteries on the MVS boards are old and leaking, you may want to look into do that. You could follow the tutorial on Jamma-Nation-X.com, but I'm not sure if it'll be the same for your board. I don't see why it wouldn't be, but I'd seek Xian Xi regarding this.

Since it looks like it follows the JAMMA wiring harness, it'll be easy to get, at least, your RGB, +5V, Ground, Sync, and all your controller connections. You can either A: Get a JAMMA harness and start doing your connections there, or B: use a multimeter's continuity check and start finding points from the JAMMA edge on the PCB to connect to. I would advise not soldering directly to the JAMMA edge.

Sound will be another story. Off the JAMMA edge, it'll be mono sound. There was a stereo sound mod, but seems like the link is dead on the JAMMA Nation X page.

I'm no expert, but I'm willing to help any way I can. This board may be a hard one to consolize for a first timer, but when you get it done, it'll feel awesome.

Here's a pic of the quick and dirty CMVS I did with my MV-1F:

And my CMVS-2: (this was when I had it 95% complete, just missing the JAMMA edge protector and Plexiglass base I had made)

My plan is to have all the wires hidden, I won't be soldering from the Jamma edge I want this to look as clean as possible. As for video out I am going to build a BA6592F based RGB to Componant converter, the smaller the better. The power supply, so far in my collection of junk I have only found a 5V 2A PSU so I will have to do some shopping. I managed to find the documents for the stereo mod at http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/downloads/MV-1FX%20Stereo%20Mod.pdf if anyone else is looking. I will also make my own controllers, I plan on using the guts from a couple of damaged SNES controllers and making something that looks like a MAS Neo Geo mini stick but about the size of a SNES controller.

Im getting excited as I collect all the parts up, tonight I pick up my MVS.

Hey. Do you know of a case designer I could ship my board to? If I do end up consolizing it, I'll need one for the work beyond Xian Xi's area of experience.

So far I have accomplished the 5 volt mod, stereo mod, on/off switch and power input, RGB lines out. Next is building the RGB to Component encoder and controller ports (when the parts arrive).

While I await the remaining parts for my consolizing project I managed to get a 4 slot stand up cab. The machine is missing what the guy describes as the neck on the back of the monitor, so we will see when I go get it tonight. $250 for a 4 slot with 3 games in original cab, I'm stoked.

Edit: I went and got the 4 slot cab tonight and brought it home, it has some damage to the monitor and is missing the PCB for the monitor so I have started a new thread for help in the Arcade Supergun forum.

I was also given a Konami Crime Fighters board, so if anyone is interested it will be posted in the Sellers forum.
