    Hi Folks,

I've recently bought a few MVS Board which hold only one game each. These boards were made during the Playmore era around 2003, there were 3 game released in that format:

    - Metal Slug 5
    - KOF 2003
    - SNK vs CAPCOM SVC Chaos

I own the last 2 at the moment. I had a little play session last night using my Vogatek MKIV Supergun which is powered by a 400w ATX PC Power Supply, video signal is fed into my Framemeister, sound is fed into a pair of PC Stereo speakers via a Jack/RCA cable. I bought SNK vs Capcom about 14 months ago and never had time to try it until now, here is a picture of the board:

KOF 2003 which I received recently works perfectly.

Capcom vs SNK is giving me sound issues. The game worked perfectly for about 30 minutes and then the sound started to cut out, first the background music and then sound effects. I've cleaned the Jamma connectors which were extremely dirty. The sound came back up for 5 minutes and then cut out again, first music, then SFX.

If I will leave the board resting for a little while then the sound works again for a period then cuts out again, as soon as the screen is too busy it cuts out. I'm a little bit perplexed as to what the problem is :(

My first thought was a problem with the connectors, I cleaned them, but probably they could use another clean, but they look shiny already.

Could it be a cap problem? or could it be an issue with my PSU? As I said KOF 2003 is working fine, I have also some NeoGeo 64 boards which always worked fine with my PSU. The PSU is probably 10-12 years old but it was never overused, it was in a backup PC.

Any thoughts would be welcome :) Thanks in advance.

    Always check your voltages first.

Yes, capacitors caused a lot of audio issues on MVS boards. Check them before looking at the amp.... although it's not all that old a board.

If those caps are branded "TK" then YES, they are a problem.
