Now that you say it Tchoin, it seems pretty dumb to me too. Maybe this was a GB Light prototype console, trying to illuminate the screen with reflections triggered by the phosphorescing gameboy surface?
I like "Das Sega Master System" from Nipplesoft! Well, they might as well have called it that! Actually, the first blue LED was made in 1971, but it had too low a light output to be of much use. You'd be right in thinking that high brightness blue LEDs weren't available in 1989 - they were first introduced in 1994. However, you could use a small light source (bulb or yellow LED) behind blue perspex. To get that effect, you'd want some sort of piping, anyway.
Maybe you just worded it wrong, but all of those micros were released. From the top two rows are from from various japanese limited editions or campaigns by club nintendo. The bottom 2 rows of colours were released in europe.
I love my GBA Micro, just wish it ran GBC carts. Theres a thread on pokethaven about the Micro "kinda" booting a gbc bios, but the thread died after i posted. (seems to be a pattern )
I really like the "Funtastic" series of N64s, so it's great to see them all in one picture like that. Very nice collection, dude.
