Figured since I'm new to the forums (hi everyone!) I'd post my collection and get some opinions. This is essential my bedroom. You can grab the high-res images in this folder: http://electricpickleonline.com/images/collection/ These pictures don't show everything, as (almost) none of my games without boxes are represented, and its grown somewhat since then. Thoughts?
I'm a former EB Games employee. When strat guides get to a certain age we're told to field destroy them. Such a waste. Depending on who my manager was, some of them would let me keep the $0 guides instead of tossing them in the trash compactor. Of that pile I purchased maybe 10 of them, the rest were saved from destruction.
I thought as much with the Avatar I know it is so stupid when they want to you trash stuff, such a waste Or they sell at 1p and trade it at 50p......so stupid Very nice set up all round....like the guitar hero stand!!!
Great collection, and welcome to the forum. I too am very impressed with those game guides, though I am not a fan of them myself. My wife has a rather large (back breaking) collection in a storage unit that I will some day retrieve for our games room. PS - I once bought Everquest Online Adventures for the PS2 for 1cent in a local EB store. When the guy saw it on my purchase pile at the register he called everyone over - apparently it had been at that store for nearly 5 years and reduced a great many times. It was 'New' - hohum, I was doubtful but figured for 1 cent it was another game box if nothing else. Low and behold, the serial number wasn't registered with SOE, and it is now sitting on my self and on my Station account, never to this day played and with an expired 30-day trial peroid (I thought they'd start the trial on first log-in but apparently not - HUMPF!)
Actually not the first time I've heard that happen.. its not that common they drop so low, however. The one thing I'll miss (and my wallet will thank me for) is I don't see all the price drops when they happen. Example, just before Christmas I bought the Tekken 5 Ultimate Collector's Edition for $16.99... its original MSRP was $134.99. Also PS1 games... The majority of them are now priced (used) at $2.99.... thats the price I snagged most of my PS1 RPGs at. People traded them in for a dollar a piece.... stupid people.
That's a great collection. I love store displays and standees, but sadly I have no room for anything like that.
I'm loving that gaming position! comfy beanbag + Big telly = Awesome gaming! Great collection too - like the Zidane stand, that's really cool.
I also have standees for: Final Fantasy XII Kingdom Hearts 2 Auto Assault Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones Mario Kart DS DOA 4 God of War 2 Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter Civilization IV
May not be a massive amount of stuff there but you're better off having less stuff and caring about most of it than just grabbing all you can and not taking care of your things. I too work in a games shop and so also have a massive amount of guides I got for free, I wish I could keep standees and POS material but my girlfriend just won't let me, takes up too much space.
Nice collection, I wish mine could be like this one (if I can ever call mine a "collection":banghead: )
