Ok, these are a dime a dozen, but I thought I'd post a few pics of mine, as I was so chuffed that the thing worked when I put everything back together:dance: Some of the photos are a bit blurry because they're taken on my camera phone... Hooking up to test: Finished mod with all the wires stuffed inside (there was a lot of wire):
Looks very tidy on the outside. Just a shame about all those wires on the inside. Still, nobody can see them
Looking good. I always hate cutting plastic for sockets - thats where I always fail. The way you have fitted that VGA socket though looks really tidy!
Thanks for the replies guys. The socket holes aren't too tidy, but again, you don't see that when it's all put together! I was really lucky with the switch placement, though - mere millimetres to the left and the GD drive would have got in the way.
Looks nice. It doesn't matter what the wiring looks like inside or the hole cutting outside, what is relevant is what you see. You can't see the wires, and the plugs are flush to the console, therefore looks great.
Actually, I realised that all those wires did stop the Dreamcast from telling when the lid was open, so it would only boot games from an off position. Nevermind - it was sold because I'd managed to mess up the serial port and I'll use thinner (and less) wire next time I do the mod. It's not hard at all - I used a guide from these forums and have a good soldering iron (never realised how bad my previous ones were until I got a Weller soldering station :love2
