Looking to get some info and for future questions to sort out how I can go ahead using this dev unit to debug. Device Info: Kernel 1.00 Userland Firmware 3.52 1) My first question has to do with the offical PSP SDK, and wondering if it needs to match (specifically the kbooti.bin) the version on the dev unit. As of now, it seems to reset, then stay at a black screen when I try to run/debug from Codewarrior or dstdb. 2) Can I use the open souce SDK (https://github.com/pspdev/pspsdk) to interact with this at all, or will the preceding issue still be relevant. 3) Can I upgrade this unit in any way? I see some resources for a Test unit, not sure if the same can apply to this. Thanks to all for looking and responding. Looking to get some use out of the dev unit; not much of a collector, more of a coder.
hey i have soem files for you http://www.4shared.com/rar/QkT_E1ub/psp_programmer_tool_runtime_li.html?locale=en
I can't answer the first two questions, but as for the third question. Yes it can be upgraded...with firmware specifically designated for Dev units (Test firmware will not work.). Unfortunately there are no public sources for the dev firmware and there has never been a leek of this anywhere that I have seen. The PSP Dev unit is similar to the PS3 Tool unit in that it requires a separate CP (Communication Processor) update to upgrade the firmware.
So am I correct in assuming that everyone that has one of these dev tools currently can't actually use it for that purpose?
Heh, it's probably more likely that they just don't... I have one as a collectible, but don't really do much with it. I do believe that the kbooti.bin does need to match the DevKit firmware. I'm not sure if the entire SDK is versioned with the firmware updates, but that one file is...
