    Hey Guys,

I had a PSOne that was so scratched and in not great shape that I decided to try doing a custom paint job on it. While I learned a lot of valuable tips, this one could have come out better.

Let me know what you think! The next time I do this I will do the following differently:

    1. Spend more time sanding the console.
    2. Let each coat dry for at least 6 hours
    3. Put on at least 1 layer of clear, maybe 2
    4. Tape off some parts so the buttons move easier
    5. Use wax paper to help guide the buttons in without damaging the paint.

    Thanks

I really like the combo of the metallic paint w/ the flat black. Not a huge fan of the colours personally, but it looks good.

Looks pretty cool. I'm actually liking the colours too. The black really shows the marks that the console had so may be an undercoat would be better next time. That's what I did when using matt black on my console mods. Mine are always silver and black. It's a nice combination I think.

I actually did prime the console. The marks are the result of not using clear coat. I plan to do this again when the weather is warmer to an original Playstation with the same color scheme for now because I have a lot of paint left.

The colors look great ! Its to bad that the controller ports cannot be painted.
Also adding the eject and power logo back on it would make it look more professionaly painted.
Flat black is hard to spray paint so very nice job there !

when you do your next one add about 3 coats of paint if you can. This is my Saturn which I painted years ago. It had two coats but as you can see some of it is starting to chip away from the blue plastic buttons. To be fair, I do use this console an awful lot.

You've done a fantastic job, and you can see the huge amount of effort that's gone into this little project. Now I'm inspired to give my old N64 a paint job...

Yeah, Metal silver and matt black are a winning combo. Don't bother with gold though. I've tried a few gold paints and they always turn out bloody awful.

The Matte black is brilliant on that PSOne. If I were talented enough to mod, I'd stick with that Matte black - but your combination looks quite decent.

I'd love to see (or make, if I'm ever that brave) a Black/Hot Pink PSOne or PS2 with that matte paint.

Thanks for the comments! I want to do another console at some point and do a couple of things differently. For instance letting the paint dry longer, do more coats of primer (I'd had done just one) and I should have put clear coat on the it, because I didn't the paint has gotten scratched and damaged extremely easily.

I'll do it again at some point.
