How much do those things cost new? There's a miniDV VCR (no VHS) in my local Panasonic shop, and it's at least €1,500... :smt1069

since much of the hardware you are showing and we know you have is really expensive and costs lots of money so what do you do for a living sir ?

    video game workflow.programming,developer,Library,debug,CG,Movie,Music,....ETC.
alot step need video turning, and also motion can not real time render, so need use caputer to movie put in game., and debug always need caputer screen shot or movie for looking where is bug., for PR/SONY/Magazine always need send them new ver movie/screen shot.

so boardcast video is " need " for game maker, or people like see ugly video?
how many cost use it plan on how many $ will get back~

No. To restate, there's a hardware lock. Only Premiere can unlock it. I've tried capturing with other software.... no love. :(

Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm going to go w/ a Canopus. They've got one that comes with a bay, so no clunky hardware hanging out of the ass-end of my PC. I'll stick this one in the closet and give it to a family member in the event they ever get into digital video. :)

I checked it in the shop, and it's even worse than I thought - €2,099!! It's the NV-DV2000 - what's so good about it?

And GaijinPunch - did you try those drivers I was talking about (if it is one of those chips)? I can't see how the hardware lock would apply to those drivers.
