http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8150904790&rd=1 Why won't ebay do anything about these? It's so sad to see peoples hard work listed like that.
'Cause eBay makes money off everything that goes through there. And then they can just claim ignorance. A thing worth noting is they took down my completely legit auction for a JP Dreamcast game, and said if I listed it again, they might have to suspend my account. What losers. All because I said "you will need a mod chip or boot disc to play this game." They called it suggestive, when there's nothing illegal abouta DC mod chip or boot disc. Of course the fuckheads selling Propellor Arena don't get squat done to them, even when they're reported. eBay is a corrupt place, let me tell you. After all, bootleg or no, they're making money at the end of the day--and what corporation can argue with that?
damn... neat... they dont do anything? then i am going to start selling full rom sets and burned games "packs of 100's" muahahaha :smt071
Only a few rom CDs left...must act fast...so few left...must get my hands on 20 cent CD filled with roms....curse this post...now I have other bidders to compete with...
Amazingly enough, he failed to put "Rare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" in the title. What kind of eBay warez seller is this?! :smt042
I've got the whole NES romset ( 8000 Roms, Japanese, American, and European versions, nearly 1 gig in size) I wonder how much I could get for it?
A modchip is illegal because it infringes Sega (or whoever)'s Intellectual Property Rights. You will often find that by opening a console box, you are agreeing to the terms. Parts of those terms state that you won't try to modify their hardware or sofware, or do any reverse engineering or disassembly on it. I'm not trying to say you were in the wrong there - far from it. However, that is the arguement against chips by manufacturers. Oh, and games aren't technically supposed to be sold outside their specified region. Certain manufacturers kicked up a fuss about it. eBay are covering their own backs, unfortunately. Incidentally, eBay's policy (click here) also says do not encourage the use of mod chips. So, best to avoid mentioning altogether. The reason eBay doesn't stop this is because we just whine on here. We need to REPORT these sellers. And we need to do it in time to get the auction stopped. Do so by clicking here, then click e-mail. There was a report option where you could give a reason, but I can't find it since the new eBay layout :-(
Re: My heart goes out to those who have been capitalized on. I've reported my share, but more often than not they multiply like rabbits.
Over at DCH, we reported some asscrack selling both PA and HL. It did nothing. I forget who idrepublix got (wasn't ebay), but they served up a cease and desist within a few hours. eBay is gay. And while chipping your console is illegal, it's a 5 year old system! Look at all the Xbox auctions with 56 games included. Pisses me off to no end that I got fucked. Of course, not too much complaining on my part, as I think the pros of eBay outweigh the cons, but they need to rework their system on the piracy front. :smt067
WHO buys an emulator and roms??? I mean, besides the whole Intellectual property business, WHO actually pays MONEY to get an emulator they can get for free? Also, the makers of the emulators are also screwed in this particular process, are they not?
Who buys romdisks? People who don't know what roms or emulators are. Dumb people... ebay people. A SNES import adapter I had on ebay was taken down after 6 hours, yet these fucks make money selling entire back catalogues of games they downloaded for free on their parent's broadband. It's not right...
It's not just that though. Alot of people look at the ROMs. The emulator is just as bad. Its so sad, all that hard work, all that effort just disregarded by some lamer "L@@K! A BAJILLION OLD SCHOOL GAMES CHEAP!!!" If hes going to be doing that he shouldn't even charge, charging for piracy is a whole nother in my eyes :/
