Most people will think this is a thread is about a broken heart over a loved one. This isn't that thread. My older brother 2 days ago at the age of 38 went in for heart failure. He had an anurisum in the major value which exploded and needed to be replaced. He went through a 8 hour surgery to have the valve replaced. Now we are still in the waiting room waiting for him to get better. He walked today a little but now the concern is for us (the kids). We as a family now have to worry about us having heart failure. I dont' know why i posted this maybe it was just to tell someone or get it out. we are all an emotional wreck worrried about him and worried about our lives because we all have a good chance of us having this. Sorry about the spelling sorry about the lack of point to the entire post.

I'm sorry. I hope he pulls through all right. My sister, who is 4 now, was born with a defective valve and other heart problems and had to have heart surgery before she was a year old. Her valve will eventually need to be replaced.

I'm sorry to hear that, g_sepp. I hope for the best for you, him, and your family. My mother was diagnosed with heart failure a few years back...her heart was pumping 40% of what it should be pumping, and a heart transplant was almost imminent. This was in addition to her cancer she had at that time as well as diabetes. However, her heart is pumping better due to taking the proper medicines and her cancer is in the remission stage. I hope his heart gets better as well.

Im so sorry to hear this.

My thoughts are with you all and the fact that he is showing signs of improvement is something that you should all rejoice in.

I hope that he improves quickly and that things work out well.

I know it's not worth a whole lot, but we're all here for you g_sepp.

I wasn't planning on mentioning this, but I've had some heart related issues lately. I've got some testing with a cardiologist next week and no answers as of yet.

I'm really sorry about your brother, I wish he recovers soon. Well, I can give you some advice that will do nothing more than good to you and expand your lifetime no matter if you have a condition or not.

    1) Laugh out loud. Whenever you feel so, do not keep it to yourself. Check out this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laugh#Laughter_and_the_body

    2) Diet. Excess carbs and trans fats are your enemy. My enemy. Everybody's enemy. So keep up a healthy diet, with less red meat and fatty acids... and always stay below 2500 calories.

    3) Dietary supplements. Omega fatty acids do the opposite of what the others do. Fish oil and flaxseed oil are nature's best weapon against heart failure. You may additionally try antioxidants and vitamins. Stay away from bodybuilding supplements such as creatine though, there's suspension that it can give you megalocardia.

    4) Exercise. As long as your doctor allows you to do cardio, don't hesitate to try your closest health club. Don't push your limits though, your goal is to maintain healt, not to become an athlete.

That's all I can think for now. You can only gain from my advices. :)
Best wishes for you and your family.

Same here, sorry to hear it, hope things get better.

I have a dodgy heart as well, the doctors were just like "meh, see what happens" which really put my mind to rest... not...

There's no rhyme or reason to it. Just try to enjoy the time you have
with those you cherish, let them know you value them and you will never have regrets when fate unfolds.

Why not do something about it? I probably have the shittiest genes on the planet. ALL males on my father's side (grandfather, father, brother, uncle, cousin) have had heart attacks before age 50 (no shit). Mother's side? Cancer (including my mother). I quit smoking, and exercise regularly (although not as much since the little shit factory was born). Still, I'm doing my best to not let natural selection do away w/ me.

FYI, only one of the above died of their heart attack...the grandfather, most likely due to living in the middle of nowhere in the 40's (or very early 50's) when he had his.

Sorry man, really. Bad things always fall from a blue sky..
You should have a precise hearth scan on all of you, dont think about money in this case. Check it out, its your life. Dont worry, dont let the fear snag you. It makes things only worser!

THank you all for the words. I am going to get myself checked out tomorrow and have my son checked out some time this week. My brother is pulling through and he is doing alot better. He is out of it a bit but he says he can hear the ticking from the metal value. I am also going to quit my job because they were more concerned about the gas in the company van. It was a load of shit.
