a complete copy of Power Rangers sold for $465 a short while ago.

I paid more than that for my complete copy of Super Marathon. I remember emailing Bungie directly about whether they still had copies of the game and they actually took the time to respond and explain the copy they had was in a special lobby/game room/archive or something (forget exactly what) and that they were not interested in selling it.

The sad thing is, you are lucky to pay those high prices for @world if you can find them, because they are nearly impossible to find.

I think the pippin was a terrible waste of potential. the technology was there, had networking and internet capabilities, RAM expansions, and even a VGA out- nearly everything that makes a system interesting! The problem is obviously the small number of good games, which are even fewer if you cannot understand Japanese.

I do understand Japanese and I don't think there were actually any good games. All of the semi-interesting games were already released on PCs and/or other consoles and from what I've seen all the exclusives were anime and tabletop games and other assorted bullshit no one cares about, and you can run most of those games on Mac OS anyway. No reason to buy a pippin for anime shit when you could run the same thing on an old imac or powerbook instead.

    Here's a list of Japanese releases http://retrogeme.web.fc2.com/gamehard/pippinatmark.html

I've got my powerbook g4 and some iso's so later I'll see if I can make a post going down the list of games and see if there's actually anything on Pippin worth bothering with.

I've always imagined some of the gundam games to be worth playing, but having never read any reviews or been able to play them at length firsthand I cannot really be the judge of that!

I agree if you're indifferent between playing a game on a PC or a game console, then the PiPPiN really has no redeeming qualities. Not only can PiPPiN games be played on compatible computers but most of them were packaged separately as MAC/PC games.

Of the PiPPiN games I've played the only ones that really stood out for me were L-Zone and Super Marathon. L-Zone is a strange one that I can see people hating passionately though. Most of the other ambitious games better serve as tech demos that demonstrate some interesting aspects of the system, such as the high res mode in Shockwave and the LAN capability in Racing Days.

I hate bumping old threads, but I too am very interested in tracking down a copy of Super Marathon. I've made it my mission to have a complete collection of all Bungie games pre-Halo, and when I say complete, I mean both a sealed AND a playable copy of each version of every game, as well as the Macintosh machines/consoles at the time of each game's release. My outlook is fairly optimistic, I've already managed to track down a Power Mac 7200 for the Marathon Trilogy, as well as a sealed Action Sack and Sealed Marathon Infinity.

If anyone here could offer any help as to locating the whereabouts of a pippin copy of Marathon, it would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck finding one with the outer box. I found one but without that critical piece and it took a very long time.

I have one new in box, which is the most annoying because I want to open it but know it's a bad idea, especially when I can readily play a CD-R copy of it. I guess you could find one in the wild or just be in the right place at the right time (I've found rare games like sealed Iron Soldier 3 for the nuon on Amazon for $20 before). To buy it off someone who expects market value you'd probably be looking at $300+ with digipak (no box) and $800+ for the complete copy if you're lucky enough to find someone willing to sell theirs.

People, if you want to buy a copy, make a WTB thread - don't derail someone else's thread. Thanks.

Admittedly, this thread itself is very old and should really be a post in the WTB forum if the OP still wants a copy.

Back around Myth 2/Oni days when I was about 14 yrs old, I wanted the same thing to play every Bungie game, I even managed to play Operation Desert Storm

Even back then copies were impossible to find but I actually called Bungie on the phone back then and explained that I wanted to play every Bungie game, and whoever the guy was on the line actually emailed me a copy of the game as an email attachment WITH the copy protection codes included, I imagine that no company would dream of doing such a thing nowadays lol

Anyway if you really want every version all I can say is good luck finding all the localized Japanese versions, all I have right now is japanese Myth TFL (complete with the worst Japanese voice dubbing I've ever heard in a game; if you're actually interested I could sell it to you) and still on the look out for JP Marathon Trilogy Boxset with supposedly exclusive maps made by Japanese players...

I know this is an old bump but just wanted to respond to that post; what can I say, I'm a necromancer......

There's Japanese versions?! I had no idea! Since posting in this thread I've streamlined my goal. I'm now just wanting sealed/CIB copies of all the pre-Halo Bungie games/games with Bungie's name on them besides Myth and Oni (they honestly don't interest me at all), hopefully including a complete copy of Operation Desert Storm.

Here's what I've got so far:

Marathon 1 - SEALED floppy disk version
Marathon 2 - SEALED PC version
    Marathon Infinity - SEALED
    Marathon Trilogy - SEALED
Pathways Into Darkness - COMPLETE second edition
    Abuse - SEALED
Prime Target - SEALED but in bad condition

And lastly, the pride of my entire game collection: the only boxed copy of Mintoaur: The Labyrinths of Crete that I know of.

    So I just need:

Marathon 2 - SEALED Macintosh version
Marathon 1 - SEALED CD version
    ZPC - Sealed PC/Macintosh version
Weekend Warrior - only a loose version exists as far as I know
Mac Action Sack - COMPLETE version, no sealed exists I don't think
Pathways Into Darkness - COMPLETE first edition (the only difference is something to do with the little creature in the bushes on the front of the box)
Operation Desert Storm - COMPLETE (here's hoping :p)

I'd also maybe like a better sealed copy of Prime Target, mine looks like shit.

I know of Japanese releases of Myth 1&2, Oni, 4 Marathon releases including Marathon Trilogy, and Abuse.
ZPC and Prime Target only licensed the Marathon 2 engine, if you're getting those games too, maybe you should include Damage Incorporated, which is a much better game than the other two anyway...

I've moved this thread to the WTB forum, as it's Hippieman's WTB thread. As such, no more requests from others. If you want games, make (or update) your own WTB thread! Thanks.
