    Hey guys

I'm still trying to get this ATI All-In-Wonder 7500 VE card to work properly. As it stands now it is unable to show any video images.

The problem is that I have 2 video cards installed, the 7500 VE and the Radeon X300. The 7500 VE has analog output so I have one monitor hooked up to that. I have my second monitor plugged into the Radeon X300 analog input and the desktop is extended across this monitor. So, I have drivers for both installed.

When I go to the Add or Remove Programs screen and choose to uninstall the ATI Display Drivers, it asks me which ones I want to uninstall. Right now the Radeon X300 is listed as the "primary" driver. The 7500 VE is listed as the "Secondary" driver.

The instructions say that if I'm using an extended desktop then the 7500 VE must be the primary graphics card. I'm assuming this is where the problem is. Any tips on how to change that?

I've gone into the BIOS and I've chosen both options for primary but nothing changes. It loads drivers upon start-up but in the end it still won't change the primary/secondary order on the drivers. I've tried installing them in a different order....no change.

    Argh...

Well i dont know what windows version you use but in XP you can change the primary/secondary videocard in software. At the moment i only have 1 card in this machine so i had to google this answer, but i've done it before when i had 2 videocards in this machine and i needed to make the 3D card primary when i wanted to play games...

    To change the primary device:
    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.
    2. On the Settings tab, click the Display drop down and select the new video card that you just installed.
    3. Select the Use this device as the primary monitor check box. This check box is unavailable when you select the monitor icon that is currently set as your primary monitor.

Already tried that... In fact the 7500 VE is listed as the primary monitor right now. It applies the setting in terms of what's shown on the desktop but nothing about the driver order changes.

Other info: The X/300 has two outputs, one analog and one DVI. The 7500 VE has just one analog output.

One thing I didn't say before is that when I try to uninstall via the Add/Remove Programs option it lists 3 drivers: X300 (Primary), X300 (Secondary), and 7500 VE (Secondary). This is when the BIOS is set to the PCI primary option.

When I set the BIOS to the PEG option and go to Add/Remove Programs, it again lists all three monitors with one change, both X300 options are listed as Primary. Only the 7500 VE is listed as seconary.

The Redeon X/300 is in the AGP slot. The 7500 VE is in the PCI slot directly under it. The Radoen X/300 came with the system.

When I uninstall everything and start with the 7500 VE the TV display will work. The only problem is that there is only one video output so I can't use my second monitor. When I add the second video card in is when the TV stops playing. That X/300 card just doesn't seem to want to let the 7500 VE do it's job...

    I finally got it working....

I used the ATI uninstaller which took off all ATI software....

Then I booted up the machine with both cards installed at the same time. When it prompted me to find the drivers, I pointed to the Catalyst 6.5 drivers that were in a folder already on the machine from a previous install. I did that for both video cards and it found the drivers for both video cards.

It found both monitors and I just had Windows find the best choice for them.

Now it works. The video plays only on the monitor that's plugged into the 7500 VE slot. I was actually wondering about that before I bought it....

After a lot of research I found someone who mentioned that it's best to let windows choose the driver from the driver folder that you need. Before I was downloading the driver and installing it directly from the driver file after cancelling the "Found New Hardware" box.

The sound works when it's plugged into the rear Mic, but it's pretty crazy with the volume, but that's the least of my worries now...

Yeah, I just hooked up a 17 inch SyncMaster I got here used. It can do a 360 pivot so I have it on it's side so it's long and slender. It's nice to view web pages when you don't have to scroll down. The TV is playing on the monitor next to it. Still some sound issues, but overall I can live with it for now.

    Thanks for the help.
