Too much anger and negativity here lately, My Self included. SO I figured I'd lighten the mood a bit with a few games making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I think it might be PSN's best kept secret there are a handful of TG-16 games in the US market place (and shit ton of PC Engine games in the Japanese market place) So I made it my first order of business to buy Super Star Soldier and Soldier Blade on PSN I also grabbed a related classic Zanac X Zanac (Compile did do one of the soldier games If I recall) Anyways I've been making Soldier blade my bitch I love that it's pattern memorization rather than OMG TRY TO STAY ALIVE IT"S RAINING SHIT that I'm used to. I'm loving the music. Super Star Soldier I've been sticking to Caravan mode and, not doing too bad I'm, lasting the full 2 minutes and 5 without dying. I can see now why alot of people aren't fond of Star Soldier 64. compared to the PC Engine games they suck. So......... share the love. I don't have much to say about Zanac X Zanac becuase I haven't gotten very far in it.
Soldier Blade is glorious, so fun to to just pick up and play every now and then. The PCE continues to amaze me in regards to what it was capable of. Very grateful for the classic PCE shmups that made it to the Virtual Console too (Gate, Lords, Parodier etc.) Not directly related but I would love to have the option of downloading Zanac on the EU PSN.
I think it counts. key word there is THINK. Emulated or not I still have yet to play Gunhed Zanac is hard but not "Cave" hard The enemy patterns are all over the place.
