My PS1 broke!

I had it turned on and the game was playiing, then i plugged my gameshark in, and i shorted it out or some thing. The green light will turn on put nothing will come up on screen and has no sound. Also the disc wont spin. Any one know what i need to do?
Its an SCPH-1001 US NTSC.

Man that sucks. Sorry to hear that. I hope it's fixable. A SCPH-1001 is a terrible thing to lose.

 

Open it up and look at the power board. See if you can see any visable damage. Also it may have a fuse of some kind you can check (will also be on the power board) I havent opened one up in a while but it sounds like at worst you will need a spare power board from another PSX.

 

I cant see anything wrong with the power board.

Fuse is fine too.

 

If the green light comes on then you are getting power so the issue is not with the power board. I misread your initial post.

The laser isnt the issue because you cant even get the unit to turn on. Sound to me like the only thing left are the controller ports and the mainboard. If you get NO sound AND NO video then its probably toasted the main. I have never head of that happening because of a gameshark though???

Did you check the main board and everywhere else for visable damage?

 

I cant see anything wrong. The laser will have a little red dot on it when i turn it on, it still doesnt spin.

 

Sounds like the main is bad. I used to have a 1001 with a bad laser. If you are in the states and I still have it I will give it to if you pay the shipping. It would be the complete unit and you could trash the laser and use yours or however you want to do it.
