So I think this is the correct place to put this because it's kinda rare to own one? either way sorry if it's the wrong spot, i recently got a temp job at gamestop, they have given me free stuff every day i've worked lol, a few posters and game books. but when i got hired they said if we saw a display we wanted and my manager pointed at some cardboard displays in the back room, we could have it when its not needed on the sales floor, so i pointed behind me at the ps3 kiosk that was setting in the back and said well what about that can i have it? and he looked at me for a moment and then said sure, it took a week or 2 of slowly talking about it until he agreed to let me take it apart. deal was i couldn't have the screen or the console inside. when i took it apart today he said leave the controllers in it, he actually left all the wiring inside too so i could plug a new system in it.he also gave me the key to the unit too. so i don't have to buy new locks. my parents are going to let me put the ps3 in it when they get a ps4, so i'll need to pick up a kiosk disc on ebay and i wrote down the model of the screen too so i can pick up the same one. they also don't know where the PS logo square at the bottom went so I plan to carve one out of clay, make a silicone mold, and resin cast a new one. TLDR; I work at gamestop, boss gave me the kiosk in the back, needs a console, screen and some minor repairs here's some pictures i've taken
I would assume not as those usually aren't supposed to leave the hands of the store that was given them. Now maybe if they pulled some strings sure but from what I'm guessing because the console wasn't acquired then the disc probably wasn't as well.
from what I understand, kiosk discs for ps3 aren't like the ps2 ones, they install a bunch of demos and the firmware as a ps2 would act like a jampack but to answer your question i had asked if it was in it and my boss said no but i didnt actually get to check
That's a shame :-[ would be cool to see what type of pkgs was inside the disc that makes them work on kiosk firmware exclusively
i imagine the demo games would install fine, the demo firmware is the same as regular firmware except all the settings are locked down to a 4 key code making security tighter so some little jacka- kid... won't go screwing around with the menus in the store
