I got my authentic Street Fighter 2 CE board for 15$ shipped long before I ever had a Supergun. It was the first arcade game I bought. =) Retro, the problem with making a harness for CPS1, CPS2, or my Mortal Kombat 2 is I don't know where to find the connectors. I'd certainly assemble it myself if I could to do it cheaper, but I have no idea where to get a CPS2 compatible connector.
Any arcade shops www.happcontrols.com www.arcadeshop.com That said, they're only $10 on eBay. That's not a bad price for a ready-made cable.
The only kick harness I saw on ebay would be around 21$ bucks which personally I think that is pretty high. Ofcourse I'm also influenced by the fact that I have only 1 CPS2 game that needs the harness. Similarly I need a specific harness for SF2CE, and MK2. Where did you see one for 10$?
I typed in kick harness ;-) SF2 MK Tekken CPS2 Would you spend $40 on an original SF2 board as a test board, only to find the SG was poorly wired and fried your board? Me neither. That's why I always PLAY an original SF2 in a cabinet, but do TESTING with a bootleg SF2. And yes, that HAS resulted in one of two SF2 bootlegs refusing to boot any more. Oh well, big loss... not!
I swear I searched ebay for "kick harness" just yesterday and found only 1 thing. This time I see the ones you spoke of that are 10$ plus shipping.
The CPS 1 is a standard 10 way molex 0.1" (2.54mm) pitch connector which you should be able to buy from a decent electronics shop for about 50cents, add about 50 cents for some crimp connectors and with some wire and a pair of pliers you could do the same thing for a $1 at most... The MK is a 15 way varient.
I got my SF2CE of ebay waaaaaaaay back. I'm not even sure of the year it would have been. 01' or 02' perhaps. But I have no exact memory of when it was because when I bought it, it sat unused for a long time. Jamtex, that's the problem, there are no electronics stores other than Radioshack and I'm not certain they would have the right connectors. While I may find suitable ones for MK2 and SF2, I doubt I will for CPS2.
yikes. I would go nuts getting something off of ebay and not have anything to test it with. And having nothing to play it with would suck too. I met a guy who bought a ketsui board for 800$ and he had no way to test it. He's had it for a long time and still has no way to play it. Back when my vogatek got stupidly delayed I had to carry my pcbs to my friends place and test them in his cab. Talk about frustration.
ahh that explains it. I won world warrior 911101 off of ebay for 26$ + 20$ shipping. The guy showed a picture of the board running and you could clearly see it was a legit board and it was world warrior and not a hack/bootleg. He listed the game as being the one with bugs in it but it turned out to be the bug free revision. Is having the bugged version some sort of selling point?
