:smt022 so, here's the story. i got this 20-something inches tv from a garage sale for 5 bucks. I thought it was a great deal, that it could replace my small tv with mono sound and one svideo plug and all. There's like 2 svideo plugs at the rear, stereo sound with bass, and the option to plug a stereo on it, now you know why i thought it would be really fine to play games on it (compared to my other one, of course), and for that price, i just couldn't resist. so, everythin went fine for the first - let's say... - two weeks. But after that, my new tv started to get strange problems... like when it produced some sorth of back sound, a constant -iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikk- when it played for too long, but it doesn't come from the speakers, more like the back of the tv, or the interior if you like. But you know, it's summer and all, and this tv is like, 10 years old now, so i thought it was because it was too hot, and the tv was hot itself, so... but the worst is yet to come (well, in my story anyway), after long periods of play, it litterally started to change, by itself, the post of the tv! that's great when you want to change the channel to something more intersting and don't want to search for the pad, but it's REALLY Annoying when you're watching something you're really watching with all you eyes, ears and mind, or while you're playing a game! Now things have gotten worse, it now ALWAYS change the channel, wether the tv is opened for 2 hours or not. and it doesn't stop at good channel , god no, it stops at channels that i don't even have! (more likely to be known as loud snow blizzard channels), ALWAYS. and the thing is, the sound of those snow channels on this tv is like 4 times higher than on normal channels, so i always make the jump and almost get an heartattack. Annd no, i don't have the other tv anymore. Just place yourself in my position a sec. you're sitting on you sofa, watching the (-iiiiiiiiiiiiik-) simpsons and then.... 40, 41 ,42 ,43, 44, 45, 46, 347, 999 BOOM! now the only way to get back to the simpsons is to first, check if you're still alive, run to the tv, push the power button.. and try to get back to your post before the sound get back. And the thing is that now it happens at every fucking seconds, when you don't think it will, and there's just no way to predict when it will happen. i'm no tv expert, and i don't have crosses or bibbles (..onions, mosquitos,... -whatever) i could use either. Anyone want to get what it could be, i don't know, interferances? heat? dust? satan? unknow signs or secret codes that would reveal the new name of elvis who's now a plumber living in russia? what if i open the tv or something? i need to find the mistery and solve the problem, 'cause i'm going straight to the mental illness hosptial if i don't. and yeah, my computer is near the tv, if it can do something, interference wise. cahaz _ EDIT: Fuck, wrong forum.
As I walk through the valley of shadow and death I will fear no evil!.........the power of christ compells you,,,tv demon begone!!!! Now that thats settled...10 Hail Marys and call me in the morning.
is it possible that maybe the buttons to change the channel are stuck on the tv itself, cause thats that only reason i can think of it chaning for no reason since it doesnt change unless an input is made.
You're the butt of an awful joke. Your neighbor is outside your window with a universal remote, messing with you for shits and giggles. His name is Steve.
my old crappy HD STB has ultra sensitive IR sensor that every time someone walk pass, say 3-4 meter in front it will change the channel. Sometime by itself if someone turn on the light on the family room... planned to replace it with one of those fancy STB w/ built-in HDD ala TIVO but been side tracked and atm no plan to replacing... at least mine's not as bad as your telly though...
My TV always changes to the AV channel due to a dodgy S-Video input. maybe you have something like that wrong with your TV? Yakumo
Years ago when I only had a turdy 14" I picked up a whopping 28 inch from the TV dump. Nearly did my back in too bringing it home. Anyway, it was pretty smart with stereo sound, s-video in and flat screen (Panasonic TV) plus had the remote taped to the side It worked great for a few weeks then one day I pressed the power button only to receive a whopping bang followed with smoke coming from the back. I wonder why somebody threw that away in the first place, then. Oh and Cahaz, try indeed to see if the buttons on the TV arent stuck.
d you know that i really do have a neighbor named steve? or that was pure and unbelievable coincidence? scary. :smt022but i doubt he even know what an universal remote is, or maybe he's just trying to hide it to remove all possible suspection on him. he's still a kid i changed to a damn small tv with only 10 channel and no video in/out right now ( :smt022) but it works, at least. Gonna do an hotopsy on that 5 bucks ''thing'' from another world tomorow, if i have the time. And no, bashing on the tv doesn't solve the problem (not my idea!).
Be careful if you open the TV. The voltages across the tube's are in the kilovolt scale, and can hold a charge for a hell of a long time. TV repairmen aren't just out to make money from ignorance - TV repair really can be dangerous
