I see other people posting Youtube videos here, so I hope this is cool. Don't expect a series or whatever, it's just this one video.

Last year I made a Virtual Boy commercial to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Virtual Boy. It was a thing we were doing on the Planet Virtual Boy website. As you could imagine it's fairly small in activity when compared to other websites, so I figured I may as well post it here. Hopefully some of you will get a kick out of it.

This is basically supposed to be a tongue in cheek throwback to a 90's video game commercial. Hope you enjoy.

Good work! This is pretty great. I'd definitely like to see you make another.

Pretty awesome. Was SFII in development for the Virtual Boy?

To answer that question, no, you can't beat Super Meat Boy.

Thanks everyone! I might just make another one, I had a lot of fun making this one. I was thinking of doing one for the DMG Gameboy, but I'm pretty sure mine shat itself. Might do it on the Gameboy Pocket instead since that one still works. That would also make it another 20th anniversary video. Not really the goal, but hey, why not.

SFII was a homebrew, though it could fool most as an official product, it's really hard to tell it's homebrew. If you're interested you can look through my videos, I did a review on the CIB, or there's just a gameplay video as well.

Good idea. I'm comfortable with this one not having the effect, being mid 90's, but were I to do a DMG Gameboy one for example I'd have to try an effect like that.

My connection made it unintentionally funnier. "...allows for TRUE 3-D control!" *switches to back of controller* ... buffering... buffering...

Hahaha, this is gold, well done!

The Virtua Boy is one of those systems almost nobody heard of here in the Netherlands, and certainly not a lot of people have it. It's one of those rarities I pull out of the closet when a friend comes over (and of course we play it, mostly Wario), it's definitely an eyecatcher :)

I always thought the Virtual Boy was cool. I once played a kiosk system when they were still making them. One time I had a chance to get one for $20, but I couldn't convince my parents to get it for me. It would've been cool if they had released ports of Virtual Boy games on the 3DS, but I'm sure that'll never happen now.

Thanks! I would imagine not a lot of people would have known about it there! It was only released in 4 countries so not exactly world-wide release :p

Oh man, 20 bucks?? What a steal, I wish I only paid that for mine ;) Somehow I totally missed the launch and life span of the Virtual Boy. They must have really not advertised it here for a Nintendo kid to miss a Nintendo product. Soonest I saw one was in 2001 or so.
I was hoping for those to appear as well, but given that the Switch is out now I have my doubts for much more 3DS Virtual Console releases...Then again the whole Starfox 2 thing on the SNES Mini is starting to make me think Nintendo is maybe, just maybe starting to get more lax on the whole not bringing up things in the past they try to ignore.
