OK. I have a 1.4 board Xbox with the 128MB RAM mod done. I had TSOP flashed it some time back but then the chip died on me. So I just put a Xecuter 2.6CE chip on and that fixed it. Went on for about a week with it. I just got a X3 chip in and put it in to test it out. First time the console booted up fine. I then figured I'd turn that pot down that asjusts the LCD brightness since I don't have one on it yet. After that I now get the famous cycle, cycle, FRAG issue. I took the X3 off and put the X2.6CE back on. Still FRAGs. What's up with that? I didn't do any soldering at all as I already had the pin header installed and the wire for the D0 and HDD, LAN LEDs. Is the board toast? Also FRAGs when the chips are removed but it stay on a bit longer during the power cycle.

Did I somehow fry the MCPX3 chip or something?

If it reboots 3 times, and then frags without video. Then the board is dead, I believe it's got something to do with the RAM or something but I could be wrong on that.

Usually though if you get 3 reboots and a frag it's dead.

Fraging can be caused by a lot of circumstances. As an example if you corrupt the bios or the tsop it frags.
The same is if the mcpx, cpu, gpu, Ram or even the video Scaler are burned out. It could also be a shorted connection somewhere on the motherboard!

What i would suggest you is to check the board for shorted connections and flash the X3 with a bios that ignores the onboard EEprom.
If it boots just reflash the eeprom with a working one and everything should be working again.
You could also try to replace the tsop chip with one that has a working bios on it if the eeprom is good.

What does 'frag' mean, in this case, please?

I'm pretty sure it's wasted. The X2.6CE has Flash BIOS 3.3 on bank 2. when I set it to bank 2 and power up I get an orange light and blank screen. It doesn't cycle. Also every time the console cycles I get a loud pop in the audio. Think I'm just going to throw the towel in and wait for 2 1.0 consoles I have coming.
