I was recently pointed in the direction of an archive containing several Japanese multi-game demo discs for the Saturn, but certain titles won't get any further than what appears to be a warning screen of some kind, no matter what emulator I try using to load these. Here's a capture from SSF, though Yabause has the same issue: Any ideas as to the cause of this, and whether there's any solution?
Well I can't read kanji but from the Hiragana and Katakana, it seems to be saying something about the controller. I ran it through Google Translate on my phone and according to that, it says "Flash Sega Saturn only supports standard control pads" in the first line. The second line says "Sorry for your inconvenience but please change to standard control pad" according to GT. Maybe try messing with your controller settings?
Thanks for the help - I suspected that message was related to the controller somehow, but my understanding of Japanese doesn't go beyond the very basics. Unfortunately, even playing around with my settings in SSF doesn't work. For the record, the disc I was trying is Flash Sega Saturn Vol. 8... I've seen emulated footage of this before, so at least someone out there knows how to get it running!
