I just received a QD and need to know if this sort of lag in games is normal. Seems to happen in both the ones I tried (This and super monkey ball) Does this mean it's defective? I can't seem to find anything on this sort of lag in google. The game slot is also quite tight, and causing a scratch on the games. That can't be normal either..
Where it stops for a bit? Probably just a dirty or loose cart slot, looks like it only happens when you shake it.. Start a game up with the volume up and shake the shit out of it, also tap on the back of the handset, basically knock it about a bit (it's a very good fault finding technique).. If the same fault occurs, says to me it's a mechanical contact issue, more than likely in the game slot.. The retention pins probably just need a good clean and probably a bit of a re-tighten... If you end up needing to disassemble the handset, here is the guide. (where it says you need a jig tool, ignore that): http://goo.gl/MuBdbA
Yeah exactly, it does these pauses. Its like when a computer has lack of ram or something. I tried shaking the shit out of it, didn't seem to make it freeze more often. I also flicked the crap out of the back to no avail. The pauses seem to happen at random. Either way, it's not normal behavior, right? The thing is it's supposed to be a refurb, so maybe they screwed up something. I guess I'll have to contact the seller. Thanks for the input!
As a suggestion, try factory formatting the cellphone. As I remember Symbian devices start to lag the more filled it's internal memory is. Still though it might either be the contacts. Or the card itself. PS. That Tony Hawk game is legit right ? Just making sure, because a downloaded N-Gage game running on a lousy / defective MMC card could also cause such freezes.
Yeah, pretty sure it's legit. Super Monkey Ball lags on it too. Both games work fine on the regular N Gage i've since received. Tony Hawk I just unwrapped from the packaging 3 days ago. The QD should be clean too, since it's supposed to be fresh from a manufacturer refurbish again from just a few days ago. Something ain't right.. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try formatting it. I never thought to do that yet. Edit: Nope, same diff. Another thing I noticed was that the loading times are longer on this new QD as well.
