Hi guys I'm not so fan of the n64 because of the god damn awful controller. Could it be possible to convert the camera yellow buttons into an analog joystick? Playing FPS games with the n64 controller is a pain.
Since they're digital buttons, no. A digital pad/stick (or an analog one acting like a digital one) should be possible, but would probably require replacing or at least expanding the shell since there's too little room.
http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/gc_to_n64/index_en.php Are you playing on actual hardware or emulators?
Some games like GoldenEye let you use a second controller for dual analog sticks. Haven't tried it but it should do the trick.
It doesn't work too bad for GoldenEye, it just takes some getting used to. I know Perfect Dark will let you do it as well. If you're emulating, then you can make aiming your mouse. Considerably easier.
On that note, if you're using an emulator you can play games like Goldeneye with COD-style controls (dual analog). Set the left analog to P1s analog and the right analog to P2's analog in the emulator controller options, then in-game for Goldeneye set the control scheme to one of the dual-controller schemes.
you could convert it to dual sticks, the C stick would work more like an arcade stick (either on or off). Seeing as the games are designed with this in mind, pan and tilt are slow, meaning it would probably work out well actually. The only problem is pan is on the control stick and strafe is on C L/R and I don't know if this can be changed normally in game...
You can use a joystick cap like from Playstation or GameCube or similar, stick a circle under it, then have it on top of the button contacts - in effect a d-pad. I think some games need to press two C buttons at the same time which of course would be an issue.
No I'm not using an emulator, I like doom and never got it to work in an emulator. I didn't explain myself well with the analog, I know they are digital buttons, what I want is to use some king of joystick so I can move better instead of pressing independent buttons. A friend of mine have a beat up n64 controller that not use and I have a replacement 360 analog around, and want to know if it possible that register movement if I solder the signals of the buttons to the analog potentiometers.
