    hey all!

looking into purchasing a N64 development environment/kit in the near future with the goal of developping homebrew N64 games when I become good at coding.

I have a Rareware development cart, but I doubt I can use it because I don't have Rare's proprietary software.

What does a N64 Dev kit contain and how much so they typically sell for?

    Thank you :)

I seen a few Indy Ultra64 setups on ebay last months. Most time the Joyboard adapter is not include. That SN64 cart will be also not sooo expensive. But when you see the 64DD devkit last time on ebay... So the Partner setup will also go very high in complete condition. You need MUCH money and luck.

I've been refered to a much cheaper alternative for testing code on N64 hardware !

than look for a bung cd64, SN64 or the everdrive 64. I dont have experience with that hardware, but will be a cheap first step into n64 dev.

If I remember correctly, the Acclaim Project includes the software part of the N64 SDK.
Also, if you just started coding it might be easier to work with an emulator first so you can save some time which you'd require to get the game to the actual N64.
If you are writing high level code you can even just test on your PC directly which is probably easiest. That will allow you to use your favourite compiler / debugger probably. Once your software is getting better you can port it back to N64 by replacing your HAL functions.

//Edit: oops, didn't notice how old the topic was
