I m glad that kammedo is sharing so much with us , because now we can make meaningful steps in the right direction to actually accomplish something tangible, bringing the gourmet list of 64DD games to the masses and finally turning the key on the M3 disks. =)
Lovely... I was offered one of those units and turned it down (skint at the time) :-( Frankly, I think you Nintendo guys should start producing guides similar to the PS2 Tool thread. Not wishing to pat myself on the back (as frankly the PS2 Tool stuff has been a massive community effort), it just seems to make sense when you've got a large enough group to make it work... Go for it! I'd love to see the results!
Perhaps on the same system as mines? About the docs, yes I was thinking about doing something similar...but it would require two things, namely alot of work and a good point to start with. Perhaps you could have some guesses for me about it?
nintendo kits, and especially Kmc n64/64DD are nowhere near the complexity of a TOOL. Hence, you can't go wrong using them, and a repair/disassembly guide isn't necessary, since once you open them up everything is self-explainable. No funny OS settings, not IDE cables, no rare/weird daughter-boards, no hidden VGA ports. That said, a manual on the use of the SDK, since it's mostly in japanese, would be useful for everyone.
Perhaps you're forgetting the Partner N ISA card . But in most cases it comes with the necessary documentation.
Okay BC I've never really seen the insides, but perhaps if someone felt compelled it might shed light on any differences in systems as well. However I take your point. A beginners . SDK guide however... nice!
