Does anyone know how far along it was before the switch to the Gamecube? Also, does anyone know if there are any copies floating around?
I remember seeing some screenshots of levels that made it into the GC verseion. I also remember seeing a video of it, but I can't remember where :smt009
From what I've heard, it was reasonably close to being complete - apparently the main changes were replacing the main characters with Fox and co. (and bastardizing an excellent franchise). I think IGN has some info on it in their N64 section, you could take a look at that.
http://ign64.ign.com/objects/014/014516.html?ui=gamefinder Indeed very interresting stuff to read apperantly the game was very much completed..that must mean that there must be cart or code out there somewhere :-D
Rare and Nintendo Both Rare and Nintendo are notoriously tight with their beta code, so I would be quite surprised to see Dinosaur Planet anywhere outside of a Nintendo code archive. Even today, when Nintendo sends out a demo, it is sent out securely locked into a system to prevent tampering. If you want to see a Rare beta, look on a system that isn't emblazoned with the word NINTENDO. Speaking of Rare, who else is wondering if the "indeterminate delay" of Kameo is because Rare decided to move it from the Xbox to Xenon. Wouldn't be the first time the company started a game on one platform and finished it on another. -hl718
The latest EGM listed Kameo as a possible title for the Xbox 2, along with Perfect Dark Zero. So I'd say it's possible.
Yeah, and the graphics were inmpoved upon. It would have been nice to play the 64 version. Too bad Rare releases are very slow. Remember how long it took for the GC version to come out?
I remember really looking forward to Dinosaur Planet. All the screen shots in games mags at the time looked great. So was StarFox Adventures ever planned as an N64 game, or was it GC from the start? That could mean there's a nearly complete version of DP planet in existance and a part complete SFA on n64? I'd love to see DP get a release, somehow....
DP turned into SFA in its shift to GC. Or it might've been that they decided to add Fox in late in the N64 dev period, then changed it to SFA once it went to GC.
Middle of the road. Basically, it was a Zelda clone with classic star-fox shooting sequences. Overall, it was just crappy fetch quests with half assed dungeons and the like. Whats worse was the final boss wasn't even part of the main game: it was a shooter. Overall, it is a pretty decent game for $20 bucks now. It's just not very long and rather annoying, although it does look pretty damn good.
Pretty much. The graphics are lovely, the game is a fairly shallow action RPG. I enjoyed playing it through when it came out, don't know whether I'd go back to it though.
