This has been in development for a while, not exactly news. However, it's great to see that marshallh has made significant progress! I'd love to buy one of these boards if he sells them.

It should be slightly better than RGB, but the main advantage of this is that it'll work on all N64s, not just the early consoles.

I looked over the design. It grabs the digital video signals before they get to the video chip. So this works on all N64. No need for grabbing the RGB signals anymore. It will make it's own before converting to VGA, DVI-I, and HDMI.

For the short term this is great. In the long term upscaling the original RGB will reign supreme.

He does some great work for sure.

If this was available for PAL units, and not expensive, might be interested in one myself.

Only problem is I don't think he publishes his work on other sites than BenHeck's and that site is all but out of the picture (doesn't even take new registrations), so it could be released and not many people would be aware about it, which would be a shame.

indeed, but the prospect if 4 player local multiplayer on goldeneye 007 via HDMI on a big ass screen via hdmi is very attractive

Maybe not because this contraption is suppose to take the raw video signals and turn them to various formats. Either way I wil put this in my rgb modded n64 so I can have all the ideo outputs.

Gee, I didn't hear about that. Sounds like I'll regret putting off any mods I have left to do. :nightmare:

This was my main question really. Is this a better solution than modded console + dedicated video processor? I've read most of the thread on benheck and I had a few eye rolling moments (first world, nerd rage problems). Marshall is obviously super busy yet there are people crying out for changes (Drop VGA! Give it HDMI! GC Support!). No wonder its taken like 2 years.

Basically I hope the focus is video quality rather than convenience. But this is not my project and I'm sure Marshall will release a high demand product either way.

    I want two already!

I must admit that HDMI for N64 is a pretty twisted but sweet idea. I want one. I got a new N64 and I have not modded it yet. I don't even know if it could be modded for RGB. Does anyone know if this HDMI board will work on all revisions of the N64?
