Has anyone here ever heard of this one before? or know if the Killer Cards with new saves exist? http://www.nesworld.com/n64-gamekiller.php
I think I used to own one of these. Didn't have much use, and I can't remember having seen such a "Killer Card" either. I think I remember the 182 stars in Mario... and the bus and police car in Cruisn'. IIRC, I bought it when I was on vacation with my parents, it was in some electronics store with a large video game department (for my small town standards - it even had NTSC games !!1) and the box it came in was pretty messed up, and it was cheap, and the last one on the shelf. I also remember the blood splatter art work and that stupid button. I believe it had a 1 page manual (which would fit the italian/english translation on your site). Also I think it was a pretty loose fit into the N64, or maybe that was the Passport Plus I had once. I'm not sure anymore.
Actually I just noticed that the Equalizer has the same smart card reader, but it's not mentioned in the manual... which is strange I'd say
Apart from the later GameShark Pro and Action Replay Professional which have parallel ports on the back, all Datel's N64 cheat carts have smart card ports on the back, that includes the Game Killer, GameShark, Action Replay and Equalizer - and as far as I know they all have the same basic hardware. Theres some info about the port at this link which features the instruction manual to the GameShark:- http://then64zone.tripod.com/stuff/gsbook.html The port was going to be used to add new saves/cheat codes, and the cards were originally planned to be sold at retail and given away with Datel's own magazine (In the UK at least) However to the best of my knowledge they never released any cards. In case you weren't aware, the N64 Action Replay Professional with parallel port was released to compete with the Blaze's Xplorer64 which also featured a parallel port, and at the same time Datel re-branded the original Action Replay as Equalizer and sold it at a lower price, so they are both basically indentical (Same PCB) and thats why the Equalizer has the smart card port. Slightly off topic, but another interesting less well known N64 product is Interact's "SharkWire Online":- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SharkWire_Online Theres also Interact's "SharkByte keycards":- http://www.amazon.co.uk/SharkByte-keycard-QUEST-64-Nintendo/dp/B0007PEQI0 It appears to be just a memory card with game specific save files loaded on it, but I guess they could be considered a 'relative' of the Game Killer.
I have one of these! I rang up Datel once and asked them if they were ever going to release any cards for the system, they said 'no'!
speaking of blowing up carts...i plugged two game sharks together with a game on top and it rendered one of them dead.
This is the only place on the internet I've seen this. I don't think I could get this if I wanted to.
There was one on eBay Germany 2 months ago, sold for 15€ incl. shipping after being relisted a few times. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230476480322
