Which one will be better, and why? Do you think prices will come down now that there is 3 projects? Who do you think will survive?
Not quite sure how these can be described as emulators, they're flash carts aren't they? But anyway, a balance between price vs. functionality will be the key, but long-term is also depends which one will be supported for a long period of time.
When you look purely at the 'running N64 games' perspective of the carts they're all basically equivalent, a 6102 will get you every game going except Jet Force and Banjo Tooie, and even then Jet Force has a patch, or you could just use a 6105 and run every game, from what I understand. NeoMyth is already dead to me since you have to buy extra stuff just to get standard memory format support, personally. I think Marshall will have the nicest cart from a menu features perspective based on what he has shown off so far. His menu is appealing and slick, he's got features most people wouldn't expect (mp3 playback), and has been working on it for awhile. KRIKzz seems like he is going to be the one to really bring the punches in the pricing department though, he has already stated that his goal is to undercut the competition as much as possible. Plus he is working with Chilly Willy the man behind the neomyth menu, so I'm sure it will ultimately be a very nice product. Hopefully his menu will turn out a bit fancier than the traditional ED menus, but I'll take lower price for less fluff any day.
Marshall's 64 drive is what I'm going for, I don't care about the price, it's all about functionality, features, and quality.
Since they all are 99.5% compatible, for me its going to be that delicate balance between;price, availability, quality and ingenuity. I want a 64 cart emulator now (yes it is emulating the cart hardware). But there is so much info on which one is best. I also might want to get in on a bulk buy (5 at a time) to hook the friends up. Can't wait, keep up the good work guys!!
Hardware Emu? I thought the point of flash carts was to eliminate emulation? Anyway, Marshall's, as many have said, has my full attention. Might be one of my first purchases in awhile off of here! (Of course, Price depending...)
emulate (ˈɛmjʊˌleɪt) to attempt to equal or surpass, especially by imitation. I think this applies to flash carts, as they equal or surpass original carts functions, and they imitate them in function. I also think that the internet generation made there own definition, that is contrary to the dictionary term. What a definition is better?
Well, it makes sense when you look at it literally... Flash carts are actual physical hardware that attempt to emulate every other cart out there, so literally it works. Whenever I hear hardware my mind jumps to consoles is all. ;-) Either way, where is the forum topic for Marshall's project? Can't seem to locate it.
I don't know, also my topic for consolidating/comparing all of the multicarts/optical drive emulators disappeared also. I thought I broke some unwritten rule or something.
