I have an extra N64 console with a 003 motherboard. I was thinking about doing an RGB mod on it but wasn't sure if it would be worth my time or not. Does this add any value to the console? What's the going rate for a modded N64 usually?

Personally I haven't ever seen a single RGB modded N64 being offered, surprisingly enough. Only kits. There's bound to be a market, but as for pricing - can't help you there...

Anyways, if you decide to sell, make sure to include the correct cable, since they seem to be really hit-and-miss. Mostly miss though - every mod seems to require a different cable, with next to no documentation.

depends on the mod, seeing as you can RGB any n64...

Also the average buyer doesn't use RGB, most of the ones that do, probs already can or have a RGB N64

Thanks for the tips and information everyone! I'll just try to sell the console as it is now. I don't believe it would be worth it to mod it then try to find a buyer that even knows what RGB mod is.

In my opinion, the NUS-003s are the most desirable. They have csync already connected to the multi-out. My personal N64 is a 003 board case swapped into a jungle green funtastic case (with the UltraHDMI kit on it as well).

I sold a RGB modded 003 on the marketplace here for $80. Previous sales on eBay seem to be around the $70-90 range.

Even if you don't get the mod done before you sell it, still advertise it as an 003 revision console. There's a handful of people out there that know what's what.

I did not know that it was a more desirable motherboard. Thanks a bunch I'll make sure to note that.

Is that for the console only? I did the RGB mod on my personal console and a spare I had but the spare doesn't have any cables to go with it and has the jumper memory instead of the expansion memory.

    to give you an idea...
stock JPN N64 console sells for A$45 and with RGB mod+amp it's around A$60-65 - mine cost $72 coz I wanted the pure sync switch as well
for cable I use Luma sync RGB Scart cable from a famous eBay seller or website :p

p.s. BTW for what ever reason my copy of JPN Custom Robo V2 cart doesn't boot on my RGB mod N64...?

I really struggled to sell a couple of RGB N64s in the marketplace here a couple of years ago. Ended up letting one go for £45 and the other one for next to nothing to someone on the forum who has helped me out with modding stuff.

They were NTSC-U consoles and included an RGB cable. Not sure about the board revision.

Definately worth it for personal use but certainly not a money spinner. PAL consoles don't even bother.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't thinking that it would add much but wanted to still check. I was doing the mod on my personal unit and decided to do it to a spare as well. Oh well I will probably try to sell it here for cheap when I can or find someone who would be interested locally but I doubt there are many that would have a clue what I am talking about.
