I have just found oneof these in a charity (thrift) shoptoday looking online it seems to be fairly rare. some places say 2000 were made others say more or less. few Questions How many were made How were they obtained How rare/desireable are they How valuable are they?
Fixed. ------ I haven't found any info except probably what you found. A thousand or two made, worth a couple hundred... I need to see if I can find the NP that it was mentioned in.
I'm not sure whether to condemn Nintendo for not recognizing that the millennium started in 2001 or applaud them for actually spelling "millennium" right (unlike the topic creator :3).
Hey, lets nitpick! --- Anyways. I checked the 8 or so issues of Nintendo Power surrounding the millennium event and didn't see anything about the controller. I checked the further issues less thoroughly, but nothing was where I expected it to be.
Something in the back of my mind says yes, but perhaps not in the same silver/black? Nevermind, I'm just making stuff up in my head, I think. And mixing it with the NP100 I bet.
"How many were made How were they obtained" According to Nintendo Power there were only 1000 of the Millennium 2000 controllers made: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/alxbly/scans/Millenium2000.jpg As you can see, they were intially available as a subscriber offer. There was also a contest in Nintendo Power 128 in which some were given away as prizes. I've never seen any evidence of them being available for retail in Japan or anywhere else, as far as I can tell they were a US exclusive. "How rare/desireable are they How valuable are they?" They rarely appear on eBay these days, and often when they do they don't sell for much more than $50. That's all I paid for my one and I know another person who paid about the same price. However, there was a fair bit of interest in one which sold in 2008, probably because it was featured in GameSniped: http://www.gamesniped.com/2008/08/25/brand-new-millenium-2000-nintendo-64-controller/ The information the seller posted is wildly inaccurate (he claimed there were only 20 made, for example, but this is bull) but it ended up selling for just over $400!!! I made a topic on the Nintendo Power controllers for another forum after I'd tracked them all down: http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/topic/7062730/1/ It's got a bit more info on the Millennium 2000, Banana Bunch and Nintendo Power 100 controllers. Hope that helps.
Nope only gold ones were in japan, never seen a silver japanese official pad ether retail or hibaihin..
