Hey guys. I've been scouring the net for information and it seems to me the best of the scene are on here, or at least over on the Nintendo Game Development board. I'm looking for a holy grail of n64 overclocking. Trying to make one, anyway. If you over clock an n64 and play goldeneye or perfect dark, the n64 does make more frames per second, but the whole game runs faster because of it. You don't get any more frames, they're just displayed faster. There are at least two emulators that handle this well: 1964 ultrafast and (some other by a friend of the same guy I can't remember right now). They display smoother, correct speed, perfect dark. According to them it did not require major changes to code or to the game itself. I don't believe any changes were made to the ROM, actually. This has me hoping that their successes can be reproduced in hardware, or at least via gameshark. Maybe changing the reported clock speed in the ROM header? I've exhausted my google-fu. Any leads would be awesome.
