I have no idea what section to post this in, but why have hardly any not for resale N64 roms been dumped? For the ones that were dumped, like Donkey Kong 64, are chock full of beta content. There's a lot of people with these carts, so why haven't many been dumped? Is it a complicated process? I mean, I know nothing about how it works. I'm not asking for any, I'm just asking why. Thanks.

It is my understanding that most of the NFR N64 carts are bit-for-bit identical to the retail releases. Donkey Kong 64 is one of the few exceptions.

Most NFRs are identical. these ones have differences:

Donkey Kong 64: Contains 3 "levels" with minor beta content. Article here: http://micro-64.com/features/dk64nfr.shtml

Excitebike 64: Lots of the game is inaccessible. I still have to go over this cart but I've only spotted 2 actual differences.

Jet Force Gemini: Contains minor beta content. Most differences have to do with the music/sound effects. Only about the first hour of the game is accessible. Article here: http://micro-64.com/features/jfgnfr.shtml

Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask: This is a demo with various save states. Contains some beta content. The game's script is also full of lots of spelling and grammar errors. Article here: http://tcrf.net/Proto:The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Majora's_Mask/Preview_Demo

Pokemon Snap: (Blockbuster version) Contains only the first two levels and some stock photos already taken. To my knowledge there's no actual beta content.

Pokemon Stadium 1: This is version 1.1 of the game instead of version 1.0.

Turok 2 Seeds of Evil: Contains the first level with tons of beta content. Easily the most interesting NFR. Article here: http://micro-64.com/features/turok2nfrpg1.shtml

Yoshi's Story: This NFR is just the Japanese version thrown into a North American style cartridge with a unique label. Exact same as the Japanese version, though there are differences between the Japanese Yoshi Story and the International releases.

All of these ROMs have been dumped and are available on Rom websites. Try searching "Kiosk" instead of "not for resale".

All NFR carts have been dumped. The rest of the games I didn't mention were dumped and they are 100% identical to their released versions.

It's a bit of a bummer because it would've been so cool to see some of the beta content in games like GoldenEye or Banjo-Kazooie.
