Hi Guys, I just got my hands on a N64 Passport Plus III to play NTSC games on my PAL N64. A friend sent me a bunch of games from Japan. The first couple worked fine. The rest had problems and would hang after the main menu. I tried entering a ALL NTSC code into the Passport Plus and reset. Now it does not even get to the Passport Plus menu. I get a blank screen. Has anyone else had this problem? I have read that this is a problem with these carts if an incorrect code is entered it can flash the firmware and screw the card. if this is the case then these cards are so crap. I have raised issues with the place I brought it and the manufacturer but have not received any response yet.
I wonder if these things work anything like the old GameSharks: 1)Boot up N64 with Mario64, StarFox 64 or any game that didn't require special treatment to boot. 2)Tell GameShark to enable the appropriate code to boot up the game you wanted to (Majora's Mask was one of these that needed a code IIRC). 3)Turn off N64 and swap appropriate cart. If you selected a code for a game/game set you didn't have you effectively bricked the thing. As soon as you booted it with the requisite game it would work just fine. Though it sounds like potential user error is at fault here for entering a code of dubious quality. What was the code and where did you get it?
Everything doesn't work now. i cannot even get into the main game menu of the Passport cart. I have read that this is a problem with these carts. If you enter a code incorrectly it can kill the Passport cartridge.
