Sometime earlier this year I had a power problem. The power was only partly on so nothing in the house would work correctly or turn on. At some point I turned on my N64 and it made an awful loud noise. So I turned it off and waited until the rest of the power came on. Later I turned my N64 back on and noticed it was making a weird buzzing noise and the graphics were more fuzzy. Today I found out the buzzing is coming from the power supply but have not found out why the graphics are more fuzzy. Has anyone else had this problem before? Could it have something to do with the damaged power supply?
If the power supply is damaged, the console may not be getting the correct voltage or amperage. If you're handy with electronics, you might be able to fix it if it's something simple like a blown capacitor/burned out resistor or diode, but otherwise you might need to buy a replacement power supply. Do you have a spare you can test it with, or is there anyone nearby who can test your console with theirs?
Moved to the repair section. When you have power issues, never plug anything in that doesn't solely rely on AC. And try to avoid that wherever possible, too. Just get another PSU. They're cheap enough.
