Any description for the problems you are having? Were you trying to do something to the mobo?? I don't hear about these things breaking very often.

oh, and this should probably be in the General Discussion area, unless you happen to be working on a dev 64 unit ;-)

thats what i would have thought but the system seems to just give me a black screen no game no nothin and i have tried everything from q tips to shaking it out the only thing i havent done is to take it apart but im afraid i might have to because it wont play a game and i have tested 2 games and not sure but one was bought brand new for the system when i got it so i know it should work and like you said these things are indestructible it looks perfect not a scratch on it and still nothing

    Uhm...punctuation anyone?? ^^;

Anyhoo...before you open it up be sure to get the right screwdriver for it! I *ahem* opened it with a normal one and there's not much left of the chassis *choughchough*. Probably you should try to replace the single parts as first (like making sure the AC/DC conv and the scart cable work). If it turns on, it could be that maybe the scartis gone (or probably the VIDEO out is burned). Just try everything for sure before you go on the internals, because its a f*cking hard job >_< (with a normal screwdriver).

Needles to say, you can get a *semi* new one on ebay for just some €'s... ;)

I was thinking of taking my Nintendo 64 back when the same thing happened to me. Take a Q-tip dipped (not soaked) in rubbing alcohol to whatever game you're trying to run. Give the contacts a good cleaning. If that doesn't work, then the contacts on the N64 might be dirty.

Other than that, I have no idea how it would've been messed up.

    Hmm...random things to ramble off...

AV cables? Is it in all the way on each end? Give them a jiggle as the wires may be going bad.

Did someone steal/disloge your Jumper Pack or Expansion pack? Might as well check.

Is your TV/Stereo system at the right input? Stupid, but it's a possibility.

Does the power light even come on?

I mean...long story short, it sounds like you're going to need a new power supply...which somebody somewhere probably sells...EB most likely...eBay of course...

kryds ,bolle og en ordentlig trekant. Den er jeg helt med på !

    X , O and a freaking big triangle.

Yup I am on it right now .

    And I can´t punctate either.

Sorry for the danish part, I just hate when somebody is correcting that thing.
Since in Denmark we have the new old rules about commas and all those signs.

Ok, sega, this is what you do..

Blow into the cartridge slot. Slam the cart into the slot. Keep trying and it should then boot up for you, sega.

    Buy a cartridge slot cleaner.

Sounds like you have a short in the cartrage slot to me. If you turn on a working unit without a game, they usually either show nothing on the screen, or a blue screen (depending on how the tv interprets a null signal). If you start shorting out the connectors, you'll get a black screen. Make sure the games are going into the connector straight, there's no debris at all, and you should probably try more than 2 games. I've had my entier N64 collection corode on me to the point where nothing would load, using denatured alcohol i was able to recover all but one cart.

Sorry to you if you felt it was something like a bad comment. It wasn't intended to be. It was merely ironical.

so you think it to be power supply i was wondering about it doing something other than black screen and i need to try more than 2 but thats all i have i will have to buy more games and does anyone know if it comes up with a screen without a cartridge like the 64 symbol or something because my cousin says he remembers a n64 symbol without a cartridge but i dont think so

Please use actual sentences; it's not difficult. Punctuation marks (properly placed) do wonders for the readability of your post.

I don't get an N64 logo on bootup without a cartridge. My television will flicker black and then go back to whatever was on before.
