I did the RGB mod on my NS1 N64 yesterday. It has a NUS-04 board. The picture quality looks fine in the Everdrive Menu but in the games there is bad "checker board" effect going on that makes the picture look so bad. I bought my scart cable on ebay about 3 years ago and don't remember if its a CSYNC or a Sync on Luma cable. Can anyone here tell by looking at the attached pic? I do have a new Sync on Luma cable coming tomorrow.

Do I need to do this http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/nintendo/rgbntsc.htm#link83 ?

    Thanks in advance!

The cable looks almost unshielded and you get typical composite video artefacts in your RGB.
I'd say this is a sync on composite cable and you need to replace it.

    Do a little test:
Turn up the volume a little and run a game with a white screen.
Getting loud buzzing? Replace the cable.

The cable definitely creates some buzzing noises. I'm hoping all this goes away with the sync on luma retro-access cables that will be here tomorrow. I thought I got this cable from retro-access back 3 years ago when they had their ebay store.
