ok here are some pictures of the two cables i have.

first is the original rgb cable i use for my pal snes. this has one sole resistor at pin 16 to black wire.

second is the rgb cable supplied. this has 4 resistors at pins 16 to orange wire, 17, 15, 11 and 7 linked.

    any ideas?

Ok, so there is no resistor on pin 20, which means sync is straight through. I dont think the cable is going to change the alignment, regardless of which you use.

Also, your PAL snes cable is incorrectly wired

Yes, pretty sure that would solve your issue.

Does your N64 still work with the standard Cinch(red/white/yellow) AV cables? If yes modify your RGB cable so that it uses Video as Sync and not C-Sync/Luma/Chroma to have it sync in center position.

Also the resistor between GND and Sync is in the other end of the cable, the one that goes into the N64.
A cheap GONBES RGB/CGA/EGA to VGA scaler will fix your issue too.

It wont work using the normal cable, its using luma (as in, cut console end and replaced with luma - so custom cables are not required). Using composite video will centre it, but a lot of TV's then give a chequered pattern over everything.

If the op wants to drop it off to where I work (I work in the same city he lives) - I will change it back to composite video. He can then pick it up a day or so later. But I wont change it again after that (hes not even my customer, this is one that I did and has been resold).

    Bad_Ad84 thanks for the offer.

First I have ordered a new rgb cable from Rob Webb on eBay for the pal snes.

I'm not sure i want to change back to composite. The whole reason I bought this n64 was to use rgb. Wouldn't composite be a step back.

Would you be able to mod my pal snes though

It would be using composite for sync only - you would still be using RGB. However, as I said - using composite video for sync with RGB on the N64 with a bunch of tvs causes a chequered pattern

    Composite Video as sync.

There is something else called Composite Sync too.

So 3 options for sync are:
    Composite Video
    Composite Sync
    Luma

Ince as you're going to be using a Framemeister anyway most of this conversation is irrelevant as it will most likely fix the issue. Give us an update when you've gotten the XRGB Mini and let us know how you got on.

You might not have a choice to be honest. Composite video as sync should be centered, but gives a bad picture on a lot of LCD/plasmas.

The other 2 have reports of some tvs not being centred (yours being one of them). Using a scaler etc will solve both

That is the GONBES RGB/CGA/EGA to VGA scaler put into a case and sold for tripple it's price but yes it will work. It even has a menu option to resize and fine tune the picture.

Have you checked Picture->Advanced Settings? My VT30 has it there.
Is there a VGA input on gt50? I though Panasonic stopped including them in their plasmas years ago.
