    it was released

Actually it's just the name for the japanese version of turok 2. This demo was also in the U.S. If i remember correctly it had 4 levels to play in it.

    .

one thing curious is why Demo Cart? I mean pressing CD cost next to nothing but building cart won't be that cheap. So putting out Demo Cart seems like waste of money... :) Maybe if we can figure out the way to put flash ROM in there and upload ROM image to it... :)

    cheers

    sales purposes

At the time, turok 2 was a big release in the us, especially since it was one of the first games to use the expansion pack, since the game was having delays, they wanted to give the public something to try out. I'm still wondering what happened to the mario 64 demo that they had at incredible universe(now called frys electronics) showed about 2 months before the U.S. release, that had very little textures in it and seemed like a beta\alpha version. What is odd is i've never seen screenshots of this version on the internet, also, it's odd they had a demo of such an incomplete version since my bro's friend already had the japanese version which had been out for a couple of months.

  5. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of the demo carts - dj898, any chance your relative knows where to get more?

    demo cart

I have no N64 and she probably will send it to me (she does not have N64 either) I might put it up for sale in sale forum... don't ask me to reserve one yet since I'm not 100% certain she will send it to me. :)

probably she's getting off YJ as I know she builds her doll collection that way as well as chogokin collection! I know bit hard to believe but she actually like to collect chogokin, especially Bandai's Soul of Chogokin series as she grow up watching Mazinger Z just like I did. :)

    cheers

They have a copy of that in the same shop I bought Greatsaintlouis's Sin & Punishment. The cover has this big green eye on it.

  9. Is it the full version Yakumo, or the aforementioned demo cart?

I don't know what that shop was, but I liked it - Sin And Punishment, so mint it's nearly new, 2500 yen. :smt040 Sure beats the hell out of the arses selling it for $60-$70 on eBay..

Well dj898, if you do end up getting possession of the thing, you know who to contact - I'm up for any N64 demo or proto software. :smt023

They are rare, but they do exist, mostly only for big name titles.

There were also Zelda and DK64 demo carts produced for the US market.

When the GBC debuted Nintendo also produced a demo cart for that, which was non-interactive but showed off the GBC hardware features. If there is interest I'll see if I can't put together a video of that.

I think you might be mistaken about the Mario 64 game you played being a beta. Think about it, Even playing it here two months early the game had still been out quite a while in Japan. Since translating a Mario game would be easy for Nintendo why would they use an inferior beta to demo the game at that point? It's far more likely they just sent out some of the first US carts and systems produced for demo purposes.

i remember what i saw, but the thing is they might have not gotten the final version, i mean i never took frequent trips down there, and i never got to play it due to a big crowd, also gotta remember nintendo didnt release any final demos until the release of the system itself due to its popularity rising. Still it be intresting to find the mario 64 beta as i hear the biggest difference is textures used as well as levels being desinged different,in fact look at some early adds for mario 64 in old magazine and you will see beta footage.

Yo can't throw a perfectly good copy of Aero Blaster in the bin !! Give it to a forum member as long as they pay the postage or send it to me for some Retro Core destriction action.
