I was watching Dark Knight rises this afternoon...great blu ray better movie the 2nd time seeing it. But I also came to realize Batman has some pretty good games compared to other super heroes besides maybe Spiderman. The Two Arkham games, Returns on the SNES, Batman on the Megasis. The Bomberman clone on the PC engine. What is it about the Dark Knight that gives him the best good game to bad game Ratio in all of super herodom? Oh and as a side note, Taito's Superman game was pretty sick too.
He's just a normal bloke with some top notch gadgets. You can apply pretty much any game engine to him and it'll work. With Superman and Spiderman you have so many extras to consider, flight, sticking to walls etc.
Spiderman has had a few good games too. You would THINK Wolverine would have as many good games as Batman but to my count.... he has a grand total of NONE not counting his appearances in the VS Games
What, have you not played the Sunsoft NES games? They're probably the only Batman games I don't think suck. (Haven't tried Arkham yet.)
I enjoyed Batman GB way back. Might dig it out. Also.... Superman, if it's not Reeve or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUDGAVNegwk I don't want to know. (Can anyone point me towards that 90's DnB track with the 60's Batman intro...all I can find are crap more recent fan efforts.)
Returns on the NES is good too, but the Atari arcade game and every game based on Batman Forever suck. If you go by the amount of games made for each comic book character, Batman would probably have the most good ones by far, with Superman and Judge Dredd bringing up the rear with a big fat zero good games out of several attempts.
i really wish they would make an Adam West-Batman game. THERE ARE SO MANY BAD GUYS! The problem is though, as is with the never-coming rereleases, the costume royalties is too high. Total bummer. Though you can get skins for Adam West Batman, at least on the Ipad Arkham game.
The next rocksteady Batman game is going to be the silver age Batman meaning the Adam West style from what I've heard.
I think Lego Batman 2 was fun and challenging, once you start unlocking stuff you can play other good guys and bad guys (some that I've never heard before). You mention Adam West costume, it's there. You can have batman and robin in their 60's costumes! But I have to bring back some of the bad guys I like to know when they where added to the mix. When I get my 3DS back I look though the list ask on this. =hugh
Batman was often in good hands. Sunsoft/Konami on the NES. Konami on the SNES. He had that incredible Adventures of Batman & Robin game on the Sega Genesis. Those Rocksteady games are pretty fantastic by all accounts too. As with any licensed character, he was in some horrible games, but just look at poor Wolverine. Look at how sad he looks in LJN's X-Men for the NES, maybe the worst licensed game of all time. Look at how bored he looks in Sega's workmanlike 16-bit video games. For Batman, even something that on first glance looks like Wii shovelware turns out to be an excellent WayForward game. He gets all the breaks.
X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, the X-Men arcade game and Sega's 16-bit X-Men games :wink-new:
I remember having the Gameboy game with the really tiny Batman sprite, that was awesome. I'm contemplating picking up Arkham City for the Wii U just to help fill the gap between now and February/March time when Aliens and Rayman come out.
