Ordered some Guncons on eBay and was curious to know if the Guncon works on Playstation emulators for PC?. My laptop is running windows 7 with an external LCD Monitor. My default assumption is that it is only compatible with older style T.V 'S ? I have heard the original Guncon can be used for PS2 light gun games and maybe even PS3 with a USB adapter/converter ? Has anyone tried ? There is also a newer style light gun out called the [h=1]EMS LCD TopGun III FPS Shooting Gun[/h]That is selling wildly on eBay rrright now.. a bit expensive though. Thanks for your help! -Someguy1
No, a GunCon won't work on a PC. It requires a CRT display, and it also requires a cable connected to the video output of the console (either to composite video or one of the component leads), which isn't possible with a PC. I don't know if ePSXe even supports the GunCon, but it would be useless, for the reasons I already mentioned. I think the GunCon ought to work with the PS2 for games that support it, though I've never tried it. There's also the GunCon 2, which is supported by some PS2 games. No, you can't use a GunCon 1 or 2 with a PS3. The PS3 has its own GunCon, the GunCon 3. It's different from the earlier GunCons in that it uses an IR system instead of the traditional light sensor. It has a set of sensors that sit on the TV/display, similar to the Wii's sensor bar. The GunCon 3 actually can be used with an LCD. Only a few games support it.
I just checked the ePSXe 1.9 Playstation Emulator and Under the "Config" tab and down to "Gamepad" tab to "Port 1" to "Pad 1" There is a drop down selection box where "SLEH-0007 NAMCO G-CON 45 Controller" Shows up. Which makes me very curious as to why thats there. Perhaps maybe if someone had a video card that supported RCA or "Red Yellow White" Video connection cables and of course a older CRT Monitor ? I have tried a SLEH-0007 NPC-103 NAMCO G-CON Controller on my PS2 Slim with Time Crisis 2 For PS2 ( Not the PS1 Version of Time Crisis 2) And found that calibration was totally way off. Accuracy and shooting; Hitting targets are inches off all together. This was very dissapointing. Is there a way to calibrate the GCON controller ? or it just that I need to use a GUNCON 2 for PS2 Because of the GCON not being 100% Compatible for PS2.? Or use this item below ? ( already purchased ) (PS2 PS3 PS1 Playstation RF TV Switch Guncon Multi AV Cable SVHS S-Video Video ) http://www.ebay.ca/itm/171151195274?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Best Regards, Someguy1
Time Crisis 2 for ps1 ? theres just TC1 for ps1. All Lightgun Games have a calibration option hidden somewhere, mostly it even pops up by itself on startup of the game. have played through TC2, TC3 and a few more ps2 lightgun games with a GCON45 and never had any problems. edit: grabbed tc2 and tc3 from the shelf, but unfortunately cant try with my gcon, as it is stored somewhere else. no calibration option is showing up with a controller connected.
If I had to guess, I'd say that option allows you to emulate the Guncon with a mouse or controller. I'm not sure, though. To my knowledge, every game that supports the Guncon and Guncon 2 has a calibration mode, usually at the beginning of the game. You can also usually access the calibration in the settings/options. I think Time Crisis 2 actually does support the Guncon, so you probably just need to calibrate it. You need to do this every time you play the game.
As I understand it, by default the option's intention is letting a mouse emulate light guns. Are you trying to use a PAL gun for an NTSC game? Guncon might work if GCON doesn't. I'm not familiar with that adapter. But it claims to let the guns work on RF TVs (probably fine for s-video or RGB too).
