I might make an initial d cab but how would I "rig" it? I'm planning on getting an i/o but I need to know what I would All I know it I pretty much need is the jvs i/o which is jvs, working naomi2 setup and of course an initial d disc with security chip Or at least on how to use the jvs i/o for other games, I want to avoid using the jamma system.
You have to go JVS as you will need the analog lines for the wheel/pedals. If you look online you might be able to find a wiring diagram for the game. I've seen a seller on yahoo auction (jp) who has modded console wheels for sega racers.
The Sega JVS Type 1 board works great with Initial D. The wiring for the official controls is pretty easy as there is an analog harness and a digital harness, the steering wheel and pedals use analog while the buttons and shifter use digital. I have never wired up the rumble motor so I am not sure how that works, I know it requires some sort of mini driver board and sound board. I have also never done card readers as they can be quite expensive. Standard or net dimms both work for this setup.
From my experience, Initial D will not even boot without the JVS Type 1 board connected. Before I had purchased mine I had the JAMMA to JVS board connected and the game would not run. It would get to the Naomi 2 logo and reset. Once I had a JVS Type 1 connected it got ingame and then I just needed to figure out the controls. I briefly show the controls in my arcade video:
I see that you included the motor, is it required to use the input and does the moter require the steering colomn or steering assembly required? or can I just use the motor and steering wheel for the input.
I know from Lukemorse1's video on this game, you can remove the rumble motor and it works without a problem. In my setup I do not have the motor hooked up because it requires 2 other boards that I don't have. Plus I have a feeling it would rumble right off my desk if somehow I hooked it up since the whole panel is just sitting on my desk not screwed to anything.
