So guys I bought a bar-top Mame cabinet like ehhh idk 4 years back lol. Once i was out of high school it was summer time and i wanted an arcade real bad. I chose to get a 60in1 arcade board plus a mame cabinet kit. With me I get lazy sometimes especially since i was out of high school. Needless to say I didnt do the greatest job on the implementation of the cabinet i basically wired the buttons i needed and threw an atx power supply in it. Now that i have acquired a working Noami with Virtua Tennis for only 43 dollars plus a little shipping on ebay via bid the seller said it worked, I decided it was time to renovate the old thing.

First thing was first. I needed to overhaul the display set up. My Samsung sync master was just bolted on one of the boards supplied using the vesa mount on the back. Not great and ate up alot of space.
I disassembled the thing last week and did as professional a job i could with what I had to mount the thing in there. Once planned and mounted there was so much space to work with the naomi finally had a place to sleep at night.

This week the journey has been all about wiring and installing a power supply and fixing up the door panel on the cabinet. So far after finally getting the pins for the Naomi's power supply input housings I powered the girl up and she roared to life! I ran the game rom tests and the ram tests everything 100%. The placement of the power supply in such a confined space was crucial i found placing it on the side panels on the inside made to much clutter and the back access panel was the clear victor. I removed the case on the atx supply and drilled 3 holes in a relatively sturdy manor. The screw sat low enough as to ensure no shorts. I hard wired the ATX supply to the new switch assembly and moved the service button next to the test button. I then did some forethought about wire arrangement and concluded that in the end i will have one spool of wire that is either zip tied or meshed together and crossing to the inside of the cabinet at a single location. I also did forethought that i wanted the back to be hinged to these wires will run right over the lower hinge in a manor not to pinch them. I will plan to buy the hinge this week. And build a central mains power terminal (more on that soon). Anyways this is what its like so far.

Future things to come. I need to buy a blank control panel board and make the cabinet two players. I need to make a bezel which seems the most abstract to me to make at the moment my idea is to use black foam poster board but the kit dosent have the black finish where you screw in the plexi panel to so thats annoying. If anyone has ideas about how to make the bezel let me know. I want to cut out an access panel under the control board and fit it with something like a metal plate its just to dam difficult to get in there and now more than ever with the Naomi in it. I need to get my I/o board and install it. I need to find sound amp and speakers to boot. I will be building the mains power terminal this week as well.

The idea after talking it over with people will be I have a single IEC320 inlet (which is now installed) on the back. This goes to a 110 5a fuse then to a distribution terminal where i will have a cut and spliced IEC320 cable going to the monitor and the ATX power supply. Also I plan to have the sound amp and the marquee light run off this if i can.

ANYWAYS Let me know what you guys think so far its ofc a work in progress atm.

(this is where i got my cabinet if you want to see more of it or want the same one :D) : http://www.mameroom.com/Products_BartopII_Kit.asp
