So, I want to convert my Naomi Universal upright to a sitdown cabinet, and I was hoping for some tips from the pros regarding how I would go about it best.
No, I mean like, cutting the rails down. But I wanted to know if I have to look out for complications that could arise, or maybe even link me to a place where I can buy rails of the needed length.
Get in contact with Andy Geezer. It doesn't look like there's any in stock at the moment but he may be able to obtain some official short legs or a pair that have been cut down.
Craig from giz10p.co.uk has original SD legs for sale, but they are way overpriced unfortunately (£250 IIRC). If Andy Geezer has some, I'm afraid they'll go for the same price. You're better off chopping them yourself. I'd post a thread on arcadeotaku.com if I were you. Over there, there are several people there who did a UR ->SD conversion. I am also converting my upright to a sitdown by the way, but I was lucky enough to get a set of chopped legs.
Hi, I have done this in the past and it is straight forward. The only annoying issues as 1) matching up lengths and 2) cutting holes for the cabling. There are guides available. This is one of the better ones: http://www.sega-naomi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1291 However, unlike that dude above, cut at the angle that the leg base was originally got a better finish. Also note, you are cutting from the BOTTOM of the leg, not the TOP okay?! Also, for reassembly here is a good guide: http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=46 or http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8345 I've not been on here much recently as I have been busy, but I would have suggested Giz10p or Andy @ AGS, however yes the official Sega chopped kits are hellishly expensive. They are however a lot easier lol. Good luck!
There reason the legs from craig and andy r so costly, is because they are imported in from Japan, as this was the only place that did sitdown naomis. I have chopped 2 down, i use the coin shoot on the inside leg as the measurement, then its just a matter of measuring and drilling the holes that is the pain. Nice though when done, i love my Net City Sitdown
