Yeah, someone tried to cheer me up. The gift? Natto ice cream. How to describe natto.... Lima beans and soy sauce... how to describe natto ice cream? Like beany, meaty, rancid sweet puke.
LOL, i was watching some program on the BBC about japan and they happened to be offered some natto and after seeing it i dont think i would want to smell it let alone eat it.
I think we've discussed Natto enough for all the people who hate it to make lots of nasty comments... As for the ice cream, well yes even I wouldn't want to touch it, I have seen curry, bacon, chicken, onion and garlic flavoured ice cream so I know that people make the most disgusting ice cream along the way...
Some fat chicks were explaining to me that the most perfect food is chocolate covered bacon because it's sweet, salty, and crispy. Natto is impeccable in strawberry pulp IMO
I've always wanted to try curry 'ice cream.' I'd forgotten about it, thank-you for reminding me. Does anyone know if they have a variety of curry ice creams?
Phreq:  Can you tell me what snake poison flavor might taste like? I'm going to guess bitter because I read in a paragraph of this long book that fruit is sweet so that it'll be eaten while bitter your not supposed to like because of its poisonous content... Think Coors light
The only bean-based ice cream that's worthy of eating has got to be Red Bean (Azuki). If you haven't had the pleasure of trying it yet, find an asian grocery near you and pick some up now. Or most good sushi shops will carry it also, but you'll pay a lot more that way.
Here's a picture I took a month ago in Dazaifu, during my Kyushu trip: No Natto, but Yuzu peel, Miso, Tofu & others are quite interesting... didn't have the courage to taste them though... The Mango ice cream I ate in Miyazaki wasn't bad...
I want another too XD. I've tried tofu and purple potato ice cream, and tasted good, the second one, at first is extrage, later is very good  ; but my favorite is matcha flavor, have 5 liters in my fridge
