I found this while clearing out my collection. I believe this was part of some video game related auction that I bought from eBay a very long time ago.

To be very honest, I have no idea what it is.

As seen in the photo, there is a sticker with a bar code that has the words "NBA-2K2-D-I" printed on it.

Below are also some print screens of what's on the disc. There are many more files within the files shown in the print screens. If you need to see them in order to determine what it is/value etc., please do let me know and I shall provide more print screens.

I hope you can help tell me what it is and it's worth.

Sincere thanks in advance for your assistance!

The files on the disc are Dreamcast files.

If you can read it in a PC, that means it's on a CD rather than a GD-ROM.

The ISO name "GF-SORTED" and the dummy file in the root, mean it's likely a pirated copy of the game on the disc.

    In short, it's worthless.

Seeing multiple 'GF' mentionings -and- a LEGIT.dmmy ... this is a CD-R copy of the Geist Force beta.

Thats exactly what I thought! The stage files and Geist labeled files are a dead give away.

Looks like the original owner must have been out in a random paper sleeve.

have you tried it in a Dreamcast?

Wow, thanks so much for telling me what this is! Truly appreciate the expertise on this forum!

Unfortunately, I don't have a Dreamcast that I can use. I collect sealed games and brand new consoles mainly. I have a new Dreamcast system but I don't want to open it up just to test the disc.

I was away from the country for about 3 months but I was still shopping on eBay every now and then and I had all my items shipped to my relative's place. He opened all my packages and put them together. This disc was found in the pile. I was very disorganized and didn't really catalog what I bought. Now that you mentioned Geist Force, I remember I purchased a new Assembler copy of that game on eBay (I remember it being said it's sealed in the auction description which was why I bought it). Maybe instead of sending me the game, the seller sent me this disc. That's my best guess. I'll try to look through my eBay purchases emails and see what I can find about the provenance of this CD-R.

Again, thanks for pointing out that it's the game Geist Force because based on that information, I was able to find record of the auction in my emails.

Turned out that I was wrong, and the seller DID send me a sealed copy of Geist Force. I was just a bad buyer and didn't read through the description of the auction carefully. According to the seller, he wanted the buyer to be able to keep the Assembler Geist Force copy sealed but enjoy the game at the same time. Therefore, included in the auction was a copy of
Geist Force RESORTED. He said that this version is an improved copy of the game that plays better then the original.

Since this is a copy of the game, I am assuming it's worth nothing then?

Yes. Anyone can download and burn a disc image.

As a general rule, any Dreamcast game on CD-R is worthless.

Genuine discs will either be pressed or on GD-R.

Thank you all! So mystery solved for me. Guess I will keep it to play someday when I acquire a second-hand Dreamcast.
