hey guys, I have been trying to get my ndev up and running recently but I have been having problems installing the drivers. I have 2 folders with drivers, one from the 3.2 sdk and one from the 4.5. They both contain two notepad files that hold no info and 2 .sys files that should be read as driver files. I have set the path of the 3 "unknown devices"(each usb) and they say there are no drivers there. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks!
What OS are you using? As far as I know, the drivers are only compatible with Windows XP. Then again, I have an old set and I saw someone using the NDEV with Vista. Most likely need Windows XP though.
Where would that program be loacted? If I am not mistaken I have the full 4.5 SDK and I thought I had run every program. The ndev still isnt recognized and I am getting kinda confused. I am running windows 7, which I thoguht was totally fine with the NDev, but then again I have run some programs that just blink CMD and nothing actually happens. SO there may be some compatibly problems, I'll run a quick vm maybe. EDIT: Thanks for the help guys, you do need a Xp sp2 or greater environment to use the ndev. Makes sense considering the dates on them.
As far as the NDEV drivers that I'm aware of, they're only 'officially' supported up to Win XP SP2 32-bit (although that's not to say that there aren't more recent (i.e. compatible) drivers available that I'm not aware of). So if your Win 7 is 64-bit then you may struggle to install the drivers. The NDEV might work with 32-bit Vista or 32-bit 7 but I have no experience of this configuration. I know for a fact that my NDEV works fine with Win XP SP3 32-bit using driver release dated 25th June 2007 (DI to USB version 1.0.4.0 (dated 2007/06/20) and EXI to USB version 1.0.3.0 (dated 2006/08/21)). I'm not clued up enough to know what the OS API differences are between XP/Vista/7 32-bit that could potentially break the NDEV from running on the latter two when it run perfectly on the former. If you say that you're getting 'some programs that just blink CMD and nothing actually happens' then it may mean that you're simply double clicking on a .exe which is expecting parameters to work with (i.e. to be executed from a command prompt with the correct parameters) and is simply returning back to caller if it doesn't have the parameters that it needs to work with. Maybe if you could tell us the filename of the 'program(s)' that are just 'blinking CMD and nothing is actually happening' then we'd be able to help you further.
I had assumed they were actual programs, they are just the getNdev etc. files that run with the ODEM, not independently. I think I figured everything out if there are anymore problems once I get xp running I'll be sure to ask you guys, thanks for the help!
You can also run the in Windows XP Mode without having to duel boot. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
